you can still get them at KB Toys, don't know who makes it.

Just remember -- if the world didn't suck, we would fall off.

Yeah, I had a Batman rescue chopper. This style of toy has come out agin. I have a mini one that is the military Lil'bird. They are doing bigger versions too. I cannot think of the toy company right now.

My two year old son likes to operate the throttle control.

That is a mattel vert-bird. The one at kb toys is not the same. It has a solid arm for the heli attatchment where the vert-bird had a wire type arm with a super small wire driveshaft running through it. The kb toys one works but not as cool as the original. The new one is called chopper command.

Check Walmart

I bought my 7 year old one from Walmart. Much smaller than the one you had in picture but he still plays with it all the time.

My wife needs a better job to support my RC hobby

I use to have one that was mounted on a foam boat that looks like a destroyer. At the back of the boat was the 2 stick controlers and it comes with some objets to rescue with a small hanger mounted on the lower of the heli. I am pretty sure it was made by Mattel. Man what a nice toy. I dont know why they dont do it any more.

Santa brought one for my 4 year old son from toys r us for christmas.
I've mastered it already picking up the supply cargo boxes and landing it on the base. My son on the other hand is more interested in the playstation. I guess he is still a little to young for that toy. Not me I might put it on my fleet #2 profile..

The "Chopper Command" in the first pic came out a couple years ago. Got one for my then 2 yr old for Christmas.

The original version was called a "VertiBird" and was made by Mattel in the early 70's.
I got one as a kid but my dad destroyed it before I ever got to fly!

Less then $20 then, an original "MIB" can easilly go for $500 now!

And just in case you're a little rusty, here's a vertibird simulator

I got the VertiBird Rescue Ship for Christmas when I was kid -- awesome! Well, it was until a little spring broke in the actuator mechanism and then it was pretty much all done

I loved that thing though.
