Been thinking about getting a benzin xlv and had a couple of questions. Aside for the kit itself, the petrol engine with silencer, and ofcourse servos, rx, and gyro what else do I need? Will a futaba gy401 work fine? For the owners, what can you say overall of the xlv? Thanks

Welcome to the forum. My XLV isn't finished yet but getting very close. The 401 is said to be fine but be careful of the servo selection as the tail is heavy on rotational mass. I'm using the 9206's on everything as recommended with the 401 as well. I've been told that many scale guys use this combo on heavy projects with little fuss.

The build is pretty nice (with the right tools) and fun considering the size. Definately read the manuel and go page by page before you start. Pictures are worth a thousand words, watch the DETAILS and if ya get stuck, either posts questions or call your local Vario peeps, which for me is Joe Howard at East Coast Scale Heli. BTW- the on line PDF manuel is great as I don't have to worry about the schematics or any part numbers. It's stuck to my tool bar.
