I've left 3 phone messages and sent an e-mail to James O'Neal from OMI in the last 2 weeks and have gotten zero replies. In a nutshell, my Cline regulator broke off of my OS 91 C-Spec and the throttle binds, preventing the carb from closing all the way, which forces me to choke the engine to shut it down.

I'd like to send both back to him so he can replace the Cline and possibly fix the carb. What do I need to do to get a hold of him? Is he always this bad at returning customers' calls?

I miss flying my Stratus.

Thanks,
Scott

Yes just keep trying to call him. When he answers, he's very helpful.

yeah guys but sometimes calling from overseas, in a foreign language is frustrating. I'm trying to get a couple of carbs moded for more than one month with no luck.

In any case in ALL previous ocassions (3) James service was Excellent but now is difficult to get in touch.

Cheers,

He's so good, I would just send the carbs to him. He'll contact you if he needs to know anything.

I know, no doubt about that,

but this time I want to buy the complete set (including carb) from him.

Last time I sent my carb, I had to pay shipping twice and couldn't fly until it arrived back.

I'd like to try a more clever approach this time but thanks for the help Dr Lodge I will probably end up sending him the carbs.

The cline regulator breaking off at the nipple is a common accurance. The little metal nipple was never designed to support the cantilevered weight of the regulator. When the nipple gets threaded, it further weakens it. As the engine vibrates, it fatigues the nipple and one day you will get a dead stick and if you auto o.k. you will find the regulator just hanging by the fuel line. Engines that vibrate more or are not tuned correctly will break the nipple faster. But eventually they all will. Has heppened to me twice before. I think I have solved the problem by re enforcing the nipple there by putting a coating of JB weld on the interface, then using a small piece of heat shrink tubing to bind it all together while the JBweld sets. since then, no issues. Other than this "little" problem the setup does wonders for the C-Spec!

I like the idea of just throwing it in the box with payment/return label and not having to try to contact him. What forms of payment does he accept? How much is the non-pumped SZ mod? I send just the carb and backplate right?
