Something of interest I ran across while looking for a simple Pan and Tilt unit.

Servo City (http://www.servocity.com) has a couple pan/tilt setups that look promising...

A direct drive system
http://www.servocity.com/html/spt20...ilt_system.html

and a heavier duty unit
http://www.servocity.com/html/pan___tilt_systems.html

The only thing I didn't like in the design was that the tilt mount was not inline with the camera center of gravity... therefore requiring a larger servo to handle the load as well as complicating installing a cover over the camera, such as a ball... maybe it could be modified...

yes they are pretty cool I just got about 2 weeks ago the SPT200 direct Drive and it works Great,, great quality also,, I had to mount it upside down because it was easier to mount on my setup,,I just orderd the HS 5645 for it that should be plenty of power for anything there!!!

I'm only using a 4oz Camera but why not!!! I got a 1 1/2 lb Video Camera I may want to try later on so I'm set with servo power!!!

hey Switch!!!

I alsmos ordered the Servos from them also but I did it from tower,,I was wondering do you know what is it they modify inside the Servos to make it 180 or 360 deg rotation??? I wonder if they just cut the tabs whereit sopoused to stop at 45deg!!!

I was about to try with one of my cheap servos and see what it does if I do that!!!

they take out the pot and leave it on the outside and cut the litle tabs on the gears and the servo case, follow andrewp28 link and be carefull not to screw up,this is a simple mod,as for the 180 degree mod they dont do anything to the servo it self but all they do is use the hitech servo programer and program the servo for more deflection,i hope this helps, good luck Bud

So do I also have to solder the 2 resistor there or just removing the pot and cutting the notch on the last gear??? he talks about not doing it on the digital Servos,,why is that??? bcasue if I do it I want to do it in one of the servos I ordered HS-5645.

switch I dont think the Programmer will get more than 90deg of travel on the servos will it?

well im not sure about the programing Bro,but i thought it was done with the programer,as far as doing it on the digital servos, can you wait till i get mine Bro?ill give you better details once i get mine

dont ruin your servo, just wait and ill tell you just as soon as get mine, ill open it up and send some pictures if i have to,im geting them on this coming tuesday, but i dont think you have to do the resistors if youre going to have the potensiometer sticking out like the one i ordered, hang in there and dont do anything to your servo for now
