Well, to get me through the winter duldrums (February being the coldest month of the year up here) I've started a new project.

Got the Apache ordered from Starwood and a Raven 50 V2 on its way and should be here tomorrow. Let the fun begin!

Almost finished with the renovations in the workshop. 12' X 15' of uninterrupted work space and another 10' X 15' that I have to share with the fridge, freezer and some other goodies. I promised my fiance I wouldn't encroach on the new laundry room.

Looking forward to the project and learning lots from everyone here. The last scale was a stand off style and this one will be a bit more realistic. Really hoping for some input from Copter Doctor, or others, on building a realistic Fire Control Radar for the main mast so I can make it a Longbow version.

Wish me luck that every everything I've ordered arrives quickly and in one piece.

Cheers, Shayne

Well, I got the Raven or Falcon, or whatever it is called.

A little confused with the naming. The manual has Hawk 30/Raven 50 and I bought the Raven V2 which has a different head and some other things I guess? New to these Century helicopters and the naming has got me a bit confused. I thought the latest version had a yellow canopy?

Doesn't mattter too much for my purposes and I bought the kit to fit the Apache. If anyone can shed some light on the different versions I'd appreciate it. I tried searching but didn't find too much that explained it.

The build has started and it seems well built, if not a little parts heavy. Seems like a lot of individual parts to make up an assembly. So far I've only built the head block and grips.

Cheers, Shayne

Got my kit today from Starwood. Haven't even had a chance to look at it, and won't until late tonight. Pretty pumped.

The Raven is built and ready to test fly this weekend. The Raven build is probably the simpler part of the whole process. Thought I'd build it first and be able to fly it as well while the fuse is being worked on.

Can't wait to open the box and see what awaits.

Cheers, Shayne

Will do. You should give a shout out to Al at Starwood Models. He could tell you exactly what you need for the Rappy. Apparently there is an adapter soon to be available to convert the belt drive to flex drive. their website also shows that the Raptor will work with a little modification.

i have one in the box and i think that its beautiful workmanship. i live near approach and know james. he put alot of thought and time into the way these go together. plus there are options for just how detailed you want to get. he has one covered with monocote and others with glass and better detail. you can pretty much give it what detail you want to.

Hi,

I'm also currently building an approach Apache. The kit is great, the instructions have been updated but a few steps you need to take a step back and look at later steps to make sure you dont make a mistake. A few of the photos dont match the current kit design. But so far I have been very impressed.

Does anyone know where the navigation, landing, strobe lights on the Apache are located. I have not been able to find the answer and although the build is far from completetion or resembling a heli I soon need to plan there the wires are going to run.

Cheers

Simon

I'll post some pics once things start. Right now I can tell you that the box is approximately 4'' high X 30'' long X 24'' wide I can't believe you can get a fuse that big into a box that small. As it sits now I don't think it will fit your Raptor OR my Raven.

Seriously, I'll post stuff as it goes here.

Emile, thanks for the info on the nav/posn lights. That's helpful. Can you post anything on the mast mounted Fire Control Radar? How you did it on your Warrior.
