I am setting up electronics on my new Titan and see where some are mounting their gyro up front ( mine is a 401). What are the advantages/disadvantages of mounting it there over the rear?

If you have a governor and Arizona reg, you will HAVE to stick it out back due to space constraints methinks. If you don't have those items, I still think you would want it out back so you have extra space up front should you need it. The 50's are VERY tight on space and every little bit helps. Performancewise it is the same and in a BAD crash it won't matter where you have it. If it's not a bad crash it will not be unduely exposed out back. Just my .0002c worth NZD.

They work just as well at the front, but you need either the steel or carbon pitch tray, which are shorter than stock. This allows you to mount it right at the front of the servo tray.

Hi,

I put my 401 up front just to keep it out of the exhaust.
See my gallery for photos.
