The ballon will work for keeping the water out, however if anything gets wet you will get concensation between the ballon and the electronics. The best way is to not put anything around the electronics and iff anything gets wet soak it in alcohol. The alcohol will absorb and evaperate the water so that you have no corrosive residue. Just letting water dry on its own can corode the electronics.

I fly in alot in anything higher than 15 with no problems other than my fingers getting cold. I cant see plastic getting that brittle at 30. I never had gyro problems because of cold, than again my heli is warm when I go out and I bring it back in with me while I warm up inside. I guess if you let your heli get real cold sitting outside that would cause problems.

Gyros need to be the same temperature as the air they flown in
401's don't mind the cold at all, just let them acclimate.

You will get a noticable drift as they cool off. Like previously stated in the thread, it's best to set the bird outside for at least 10 minutes prior to a flight, and keep the lipo warm until you are ready to fly. Set the belt tension after acclimation as it noticably changes with temp unless you use carbon booms.

SA parts are available through Horizon or you could try the new slider setup that Align recently released. It comes with either a plastic (HS1198) or metal (HS1200) yoke.
