I was in the market to get another helicopter that looks more sturdy than a blade and was looking at a Axe cp by Helimax. Has anyone got experience with this bird. I see where I can upgrade to a lipo battery, and most all the parts can be express shipped from tower hobbies. Has anyone flown this and a blade cp and if so which would you prefer. It looks like the skids are a imrovement over the blade, and it has better frame also.

I have numerous Blade CP's and one AXE CP and I wish it were the other way around. Once converted to a brushless motor and 3s LiPoly's, it's a hoot of a little heli and a lot of fun plus durable. I stuffed a small E-Flite outrunner (3350kV) with the stock 14t pinion off the OEM brushed motor, a Phoenix 25 ESC and switched to MSComposit 255mm weighted Hornet II carbon fiber blades on my AXE CP. Very happy with the result and the Tower parts support is great.

Well I ordered the Axe it should be here by next week. I hope it is more stable than the blade cp. I will take it slow and learn to fly this one right. I feel if I master the electric (smaller) then as I get better and move to nitro I should be able to fly them a lot better. Thanks for all your inputs. I ordered extra blades from tower hobbies like 20.99 for a set, and tail rotor for 4.99. Check it out. Thanks again.

Not sure how to link to it, but I have an opinion in E-Conversions. The topic title is Heli-Max Axe CP swinging Align PRO 325's
Probably the post would have been better suited for this topic...maybe the admin will move it here.

Axe

the biggest problem with the Axe is the radio sucks we changed the crystal to my 7c and added some expo and wow what a relief it was way better there's alot of negitive pitch in regular mode that needs removed the tail blade breaks easily we broke the first one on a rock on the pavement we bought Blade cp tail blade they match perfect and have a little more pitch so more authority on tail however Blade mainblades are to thick at the root . May consider the arrow tail boom for the bigger blades thier cheaper the carbon blades made for the axe are 60.00 thier out of thier friggin minds I'm studying my options for that issue ......

Ok, here is the post I put in the wrong place...

Ok, I'll be totally honest and say that I think the CP is the worst peice of junk I have ever bought. However, after modifying it a little this afternoon, I am starting to like it. I bought a set of 325 PRO's and mounted them. They are a little tight, but I haven't shaved them at all, so that could be fixed. I had to lengthen the tail boom in order to avoid tail rotor collision. First, I bought a second tail boom and pieced it together with the original one for a test flight. It worked great until I dropped the machine into the living room floor, and then, well let's just say a one piece tail boom is the way to go. Luckily, I had a few used aluminum arrows out in the shop. A snip here, and a hole for the tail rotor mechanism there, and I was back in business.

All in all, the machine fly's 100% better. I am not sure if it will still do 3d...and I don't care. I like stable, realistic flight so 3d just isn't my thing.

So why align 325 pro's? Because they cost $13.00 a set, as opposed to the $40.00 they want for the blades that are made for the CP. I did the whole mod cheaper than I could have bought the aftermarket blades.

Hey Lyle that is good to know about the Blade tail rotor working...and having a little more pitch. After I finally got my 325's tracking properly I had to add a little trim to the tail rotor, the Blade rotor might actually allow me to get back closer to center.
