I own a Nexus 30, but since they discontinued the series I want to sell it. So now what im looking for is a new heli that is still beginner friendly but allows advanced flying. Also I would like it to be able to but put into a Airwolf fuselage. I can do either 30 or 50 size. please help.

I never owned an Evo, but I do have 3 Raptor 50's and love them. And parts are inexpensive too. Plus everyone seems to stock them.

It seems like the Evo and Raptor are the equivalent of Ford or Chevy.

Well I'm a Chevy guy, go for the EVO, I love mine! Flys awesome, parts availability is excellent, and easy to repair.

Raptor! I just moved from electric to nitro. I bought a used Raptor off Ebay (another story). After getting it rebuilt and trimmed, I wish I would have just started with nitro. The Raptor has been a breeze to work on and so stable to fly.

Raptor 30/50

SPR,
You've been flying a 30. Why not move into a well designed machine like the Raptor 30V2? You can easily upgrade to the 50 and then to the Titan mod. You will love it. It is capable of just about any "advanced" flying you want to do. I think it's ideal for growing with. Best thing is that most of your current gear (motor, servo's/Gyro) will transfer directly. And you certainly can upgrade that as needed.
Plus, there are more flyers with knowlege of this heli than any other, bar none! If you can find a field where there are no Raptor owners, most of us would be very surprized....

The hobby goes forward for most of us in steps and the Raptor series of Heli's makes that easy.

Good luck SPR....

It's easy. Just pretend it's the simulator...

You have a choice now that your hooked.
Venture 30 is a good ship with cheap parts. It will get you into a hover and ff and some basic 3D. I'm going to upgrade my Venture to a 50 class ship an stuff it in a $600 fuse for FAI this year.
The other choice is a Tiger 50 or Pantera 50. This will take you from mild to wild with no upgrades. The Rappys are also a good choice but a very outdated ship. Granted the parts, and crew are around to help you with the set up. Most ships have the same set up and is a no brainer once you figure things out. I would lean towards the Tiger as the customer support is awsome and the ship will blow away any rappy due to it's 2007 thinking vs the living on 2000 design that the rappy has.
OH my I stuck a stick in the rappy folks by now. It's a good ship and have flown many of them. If your flying one. Keep it up and enjoy.
I just like to move forward in my quest for a better machine.
My 2 cents.

My name is Billm. Cough, and I'm a Heli Holic

Outdated?

This should be a fun string now. Thunder Tiger has not stopped designing great heli's. MA's and Synergy's are the next step in the hobby but Raptor's fly great and will teach you everything you need to know about flying heli's. They shouldn't be underestimated.

Everyone has their preference but more people prefer Raptor....

It's easy. Just pretend it's the simulator...

Someone was reading Johns white paper on the Raptor and had his strings pulled just like the puppet on the cover.

Fact is Thunder Tiger has been in the heli business a while, the Raptor enjoys great parts support, everyone with a CNC mill makes upgrade parts for it, there's a TON of info on http://www.raptortechnique.com

Audacity has good customer support and great manuals but the Tiger is junk and I havent heard much about the Pantera yet.

Besides the Raptor the EVO is an excellent choice, its a little more expensive and I don't think its as tough as a Raptor but its very well designed and Jeff Green of MRC is the standard by which all customer service is judged.
