Up ontil today my heli started up great every time . Today i installed the igniter and it fired up then it died ... I tryed to start it again and it flooded out ,i removed the glow plug and cleared it out . again ,it started then died .... i installed the glow plug onto the igniter and it was a low red glow , wiggled it around and it died to no glow . so i took a NEW plug #8 installed it ... same thing start~ die ~flooded . can it be the igniter not giving enough power ? its the type you put a battery in , i tryed 3 diff batterys at no help. so to some it up seems like the glow plug isnt staying hot or not getting hot enough to start .. and it isnt too rich

Assuming your glow plus is fine. Try the following

1. Close your needle gauge fully and then open two full turns and go from there.

2. Check if nothing is loose in the carburator area.

3. Are you filling your tanks all the way to the top? If so leave 1/8 to 3/16 unfilled.

4. Check underneath the heli and make sure muffler is tight and that the gasket is not floating around.

Good luck.

the muffler is tight , tank is 1/2 full , everthing is secure carb is adjusted to 1- 2/3 turns out ... filter not pluged , fuel is flowing , i think the glow plug isnt getting enough boost from my igniter to run . dose the plug get hotter after it starts ?

Low speed needle valve

Make sure that has not moved. Ideally when the throttle is low you should be able to blow a slight amount of air thru the fuel intake hose into the carburator.

If you blow too much air close it 1/8 turn and see. If no air passes open 1/8 turn and check again. Now exactly how much air.....that is learnt by trial and error.

Another thing to check is the remote glow adapter, assuming the glow igniter batteries are fully charged.

A wag usually means the gain setting is to high. Try reducing it bit.

ok the heli is flying nice hovering still no wag in turns no tail kick...... BUT ... after 15 min of flyin the RPM shoots up ! and it seems to loose a little power . if i give it gas it seems to smooth out . what causes RPM to change to a higher range at a hover & 1/2 throttle? fueling problem ??????? makin me nervous !

Wait a sec. You are getting 30 minutes per tank?
WHAT?!!!!!
You said your muffler was tight, but just curious, have you ever tightened the bolts while the muffler was HOT?

This is a Raptor 50, right? Stock tank? What engine? It runs on Nitro, right?

How are you getting 30 minutes on a tank? What is it doing, Just idling?
You may have the leanest mixture ever dialed in in the history of the sport.

What size battery pack are you running? How many cells, what is the capacity?

I use 1800 mAh 4 cell packs. I use them for 2-3 flights. Regardless, no way in hell can I get 30 minutes on a single pack.

What are your fail safe setting?

he he boy your excited ! its a raptor 50 v2 not a stock tank .. i forward fly hover no tricks but i do give it the gas ... i use the same battery as you , i get 3 flights allso , the high end fuel is 2 1/3 turns out, BIG smoke trail ... 20% and 30% Curtis Youngblood fuel .. it dose not run hot at all ... im not sure the size of my tank and reserve is i would guess 12 to 14 oz .. i promise 20 to 30 min flight every day .. it may have a problem with the fuel line pinching as it gets up to temp "after" 15 min. witch may extend my fuel consumption even longer but i havent seen it get hot yet. usually you get bubbles in the fuel line as it gets too hot , i dont see any .. if i turn fuel setting richer it wont hardley hover , i run it rich ...

If the idle suddenly goes high, it is usually a lean engine condition. The causes are 1) pin hole or crack in fuel line 2)Running out of fuel. 3)dirt in the carb.30 minutes is not the norm, and I dont see how it is possible with the OS 50 unless you run a really small carb or low head speed. But if you say so, Im not doubting you. I would replace all the fuel lines including the clunk lines inside both tanks. And also check your carb o-ring and apply some dielectric grease to it and seat the carb tight. While you have the carb off, it would be a good idea to break it down and clean it as this too could cause the lean condition. Good luck on getting it running smooth

i really didnt know 30 min on a full tank was so unheard of till now lol. i just thought it was the norm .. my neddle is set around 2 turns out . you know now that i think about it the reserve tank emptys super fast after larger tank is empty. .. so i bet there is a fuel line prob , ill put new lines on tonite and post what i find ... the heli seems to have plenty of power and dosnt run hot , just the RPM change ... now if i can figure out how to get the tank off ill be in good shape.

Its easiest if you remove the three right side engine mount bolts and the right side landing skid screw, then just spread the frames gently and slide it out. Ya Ya I know thats what she said lol

ok fuel lines replaced the only one that was in question was in the tank ... it seemed to be softer than the others ... i didnt see any signs of holes or cracks maybe a little dry rott. i hope i wasnt to put a diff type hose in the tank.. alltho the one i replaced it with was much better. i allso closed my high end needle to 1 1/2 turns out . gonna test fly tomorrow .. have my fingers crossed ! im gonna miss them 20-30 min flights tho !!
