Geezz what is wrong with a simple phone call today, I thought things are supposed to be simpler these days,,

I need parts for an accessory, but this company wont take a C-card number over the phone now, I have bought from them before,, well I do not care what their reasons are, and I wont put my C-card numbers on the net,,

but get this, they will send me the parts as long as I send a check after I get the parts

It sounds like they have had some type of CC fraud problems...can't blame them if that's the case. But on the bright side they apparently TRUST YOU ...

More than likely, they cant take a credit card over the phone, I know I cant, it has to be done online. Also, by underwriter wont back it anyother way.

i was told by one of those stores that they use some third-party credit card processing companies cause they don't have access to credit card processing.

Same with our company, it HAS to be done online for our merchant to process it. If I take card numbers over the phone, then I have to put the order in on our website just like the customer would have to. Get over it. Do some due diligence, make sure the site is secure and just go for it. Don't you know most shops just enter YOUR details in online once they are off the phone with you anyway??? Come on, get a life....

So let me get this straight - you guys want the cheap prices of an online store (because they have lower overheads, don't have to waste time taking phone orders etc.) but then you get pissed when they won't take a phone order from you??? Sheesh, I give up. I am happy to lose the business of the potential customers who do not understand our business model - I am sure the online model stores are the same.

I've gotta fund my TRex600 somehow... and if that source of funding doesn't impact my bank account, then I'm good! Jim if you really hate making online orders, just gimme your CC info and anytime you wanna make a purchase just lemme know and I'll take care of it.... of course, this "account management" service is gonna cost you a TRex600 CF kit... See? That way we both win... I get my 600, you get to make online purchases without having to deal with the hassle of placing the online order....

what can I say.... I'm an entrepreneur...

I thought you guys over there were totally educated on legal stuff.

Isn't it completely obvious to everyone that the store has no security whatsoever if they take your CC number over the phone and make out the charge to the CC company by themselves?

How would they prove it to the CC company if anyone contests a charge? Guess they could tape your call but that's probably illegal.

Man, it's your lawyers that make it hard (pls don't misunderstand, I do not have a fetish for US lawyers) as they make sure to grab any occation...in the manual for my UW camera it's printed in fat letters not to change lens or film under water....geeh I never thought that could be a problem...

If that would work, how easy wouldn't it be to charge someones CC card. Once you have their number you can just charge away without any electronical or written signature.....ya still asleep?

If you have no problems dealing with your card company online, check to see if they offer one-time, disposable, or throw-away card numbers. A number can be generated that links back to your actual account, with a cap on the amount avaliable for the specific transaction, and for some, a limit on the time frame that the one-time number is valid. I use CitiCard, and consider the process about as risk free as can possibly be.
