My new SE has two tail control wire guides that slip over the tail boom, but they are a very loose fit. Are these suppose to free float one ahead and one behind the horizontal fin?

Apparently, you're supposed to use the included zip-ties. I didn't use the guides because they don't match the stand-off distance of the boom brace support.

If you look at the hoops, there is a small gap near to top. You're to position the hoops where you want then insert a zip-tie into the gap to wedge it snug against the boom.

Totally wanky. Check the Trex 600 manual for details.

But, that's the way they do it. (I'm just upgraded my se tail with the HS2100 part so I had the same question yesterday)

When the opportunity presents itself (ie. after a crash that damages/destroys the current tail rod) replace it with a length of 1/8" CF tubing. Epoxy short lenghts of threaded rod into the ends and install plastic links on them. The CF tubing is more than rigid enough not to need supports. You can do away with the rod support altogether.

you dont use the boom brace support when using the new style pushrod and guides. two is better than one and the steel rod doesnt flex at all. there is however some slop still in the new style pitch slider.
