Thanks for the heads up! I have a couple of emoli packs for my Swift but I'd like to try a 6S LiPo and that's is a really good price.

I am picking up a Swift Century and was wondering if this is the right battery. It says it needs a 4S-6S Li-Po? Can someone explain the differences in the batteries? More power, longer flight times, etc.?

Thanks..................JD

JD this would be a great battery for the Swift. I also use the Flight Power 6s1P 3700. Its a great battery as well. You wont be sorry with either one.

Fly it like its a rental...

It'll depend on what motor you're using. A motor with a lower KV (RPM/volt) can use a higher voltage (cell count) battery but a motor with a higher KV will need a lower voltage/ cell count battery. Otherwise the headspeed will not be correct, too high/ too low. A motor that puts out the same amount of power at a higher voltage will also have a lower current than one that has the same power but designed for a lower voltage. This translates to longer flight times.

I run a Tango 45-10 which is around 1000 KV so I run a 7 cell emoli which is equivalent to a 6S LiPo. If I were running a 4S LiPo pack I'd be running a motor with a KV of maybe 1400-1500.

Well you got me all confused now but the motor that comes with it is the Outrunner 600 that says it has a KV of 715 so will this battery work then?

Thanks..................JD

Sorry about that.

Yes, with that KV a 6 cell would work with the correct pinion. The way you figure head speed is:

HS = (Max motor RPM X # teeth Pinion) / # teeth Main Gear
Max motor RPM = # of cells X Volts per cell X KV

or

6 X 3.7 X 715 = 15873RPM

With a fairly low KV of 715 you'll want a pinion of probably 11 or 12

so

With 11 tooth pinion HS = (15873 X 11) / 96 = 1818.78 RPM
With 12 tooth pinion HS = (15873 X 12) / 96 = 1984.13 RPM

This will get you in the ballpark of what you'll want for HS.

I'm using a motor with approx. 1000KV and emoli's which don't edeliver the voltage under load that LiPo's do so I'm running a 9 tooth pinion on mine. I haven't checked the actual rotor RPM yet so I may need to make some adjustments. The good thing is Century sells a good amount of pinions for the Swift.

I'm running the old Outrunner 600 which is 715kv, I'm using a 13T pinion with FP 3700 6S packs and performance is very good, at last there are a wide range of pinions for the Swift so you can get the headspeed you want with a wide range of kv's, the new 600 Plus outrunner is an 1100kv motor and works well with 9T pinions.

I think I am going the Trex 450SE route afterall. Will this battery work for that or is it too big?

Thanks..................JD
