You got the right brand, RIT. Keepin mind you can only dye colors darker than orignal color. The secret is, from my expirence, is to use the powder dye:
In a sause pan 3-4 cups of water ( at least enough to submerge item )
pour whole bag of dye in & bring to a boil & stir dye a bit
reduce to a simmer & throw in parts for 5 min then turn off heat & let sit for 10 min. Then pull out your parts, rinse & clean them off with warm water & a tooth brush, Wala!!
I dyed these, 1 was green & the other was yellow

and one more thing "DON'T BE AFRAID!"

They sell a rit dye remover should I try that first. Then start process over again..

What I did is put the landing gear in a tray full of water (just covering gear) poured in dye and put in over for an hour at 350 deg.

No need!

That's not going to work! Use a skillet big enough to fit gear on the stove top.
Do it when Wife's not around, is doesclean up with water just looks nasty!

Any good dye out there

Try it on an old piece of plastic gear FIRST. I think you should have also tried a different yellow shade or used 1/2 the amount of die and left it in the solution for less time. Periodically check to see if it is the shade you want by pulling the skids out of the solution and returning it if it isn't the shade you want. It is trial and error but don't ruin a good pair before "testing" it on some scrap first. Good Luck.
