I have 1 T-rex with an align 430L and one with the Medusa 28-32-3400. The performance is very close on both but the Medusa seems to be way easier on the batts. They always consistenly run 20 degrees cooler with the Medusa motor. The motor and esc are about 10 degrees cooler. Both helis are basically identical except for the motors. I run mine on a 13 tooth pinions with CC35escs and 2100 Prolites.

I am running the 28-40-3400 on 12t pinion. You can get 3300 HS if you want it.
The 40 puts out a 100 more watts of power than the 32.
This is a great motor for the trex and 3s set up.

fwiw..

Several pilots locally are having great results with the 4050 Kv Align...11t pinion, +/- 12 degrees pitch, motor and batt temps still good, 6-6:30 hard 3d no problem....

that is the other motor I am looking at.

I am going to try the JGF 550th. good thread over at the other heli forum. Looks promising. However, I may also try the 4050 and my buddy is going to try the 32-3400 medusa. So any input would be appreciated. ONce we try these setups we will post back. But I would like more feed back so that we can post figures back here and maybe help others out as to what are the better motors and stuff.

I will post a short review of the 500th when I get it in and my thoughts on my setup.

as for the medusa 28-40-3400 I don't think my TP2100's would handle it for very long.

Thats what I use. If you read the test data on Trex tunning the medusa 28-40-3400 is quite an efficient motor and will do fine with TP2100.

How hot does your setup get? (batts and motor)

About how long are your flight times?

thanks for input

Last time we checked 140 on the motor and 120 on the bat. I think?
Flying 6 minutes doing tic tocs rolls lots of flips and such.
The Medusa 28-40-34 is awsome.

Before I got the TP Extremes, I was using the Prolites. The 450F is very hard on the batteries. I would say it's similar to the Hacker (probably not as harsh). The Medusa will work better than the 450F and Hacker with the TP Prolites. Once you start flying harder, all motors, including the stock Align 13T, will be hard on the Prolites. You can buy the 450F or the other ones but you'll find that you'll end up with the Medusa.

Nope, I have the 3400 on 13t and the thing screams (unless Medusa has mislabeled more motors). I can't believe how cool the packs run with this setup either. The Medusa motor has to be much more efficient than the align 430L.

In your statement you said that the medusa and the align 430L performance wise are very close. However, most people say there is a night and day diffrence and say that the medusa runs hot.

With your 13T pinon, what head speed are you running? You should be 3000+ with that setup but that also depends on how you have your speed control setup and stuff.

any detailed info would not only help me but others as well.

thanks.

I had the AON 3500 and "upgraded" to the Medusa 28-32-340O. Both run the some, cool and give good battery life (8min timer). The Medusa has 10-15% more power to me. It wasn't worth the money for a whole new motor to upgrade but if just starting it is a good one to get. PM me if you want my AON.... Then I Switched to v Blades and got a more powerful increase than the motor change. Felt like 30%! Trex tuning.com has a big but old motor test. I am skeptical of really hot motors and batts and short runtimes. OK for drag racing but 3D flying needs a consistent run and for me lots of practice time. I can run 3-4, 8 min flights In a row with the AON or Medusa and it's cool. Eric

I don't have a tach but should be around 3000 according to calculated head speeds. Both helis feel and sound very close as far as headspeed is concerned. Both are running a flat 100% throttle curve. I was expecting a night and day difference when I got the medusa for the second rex but just don't see it. It bogs slightly less than the 430L during consecutive flips or rolls but only slightly less. Hope mine isn't mislabeled or something. I am running Radix blades.
