I will keep the 18T pinion on and try the "Idle Up 2" where mid stick is at 95% not the 80% that is on "Idle Up 1". The 80% point at mid stick may be what is slowing me down. I just dont want to strip a gear by going from "normal" (not sure of the percentage) directly to 95% in Idle Up 2...Been there done that!

Hi Pyrock

lf it worries you, try switching in while climbing at full stick. Both curves are the same there.

Funny you mention that because I was just thinking about it after I posted. I'm still getting used to the larger bird. If I do that with my little Trex 450, I was always afraid it would climb out of sight. With the larger Logo, I dont have to worry about it.

Went for a six minute flight today..
charge dropped back into battery is 3.1 amps.
For some reason, the first cell had ballooned slightly on my 4200mah pack. After the lipo cooled off, it shrank back to normal. The pack balances fine now, and doesn't seem to have been hurt. I think that will shorten the life some though

The last tic toc I did before I Sat it down I cought a huge power sag (at which time I immeadiately landed the heli with a 2 foot high auto to test the tail during autos )
I guess that is too much load near the end of the pack. And the tail didn't even notice I had cut the throttle.

I think I'm going to try and shoehorn a 5000mah Trex 600 battery in there somehow. I Want to find the balance of flight time vs. weight.
Unfortunatley I think that may mean purchasing a different configuration battery pack. something in the 20-25C range should give more kick towards the end of the flight..

Also, Think I will move to the 19T pinion on a 100% throttle curve instead of a 20T pinion @ 80% in idle..
On another note, I was able to increase cyclic by 10 points without binding still, and sped the roll/flip rate up even more

She is plenty nimble now, and the tail is locked in. Just need to play with pinions and batteries to find what suits me. Still using +-11* pitch.

Hi casey
l`d keep a very close eye on that pack from now on. Sounds worrying to me. Hope you get away with it.

Just had a 5 minute flight on the battery and it's not puffing or swollen. I think it was a one time incident, as it doesn't show any signs of being puffed up. I think the battery is ok for 5 minute flights. I must have landed at exactly the moment the pack began to strain. The puffing was very minor and has actually went away.

I will be looking into more batteries asap..

one thing though..
I am getting a slight hairline fracture in the gelcoat on the root on my carbon blades. Is this normal?
I'd post a picture but I couldn't get a visible one.
I think it's just the gelcoat.. but I'm not sure. I run my blades pretty loose in the holders too.

Here is that crack in the blade root I'm talking about.. (look close)
I'll get an rpm reading today. I don't think I'm up high enough to be cracking blades though?
Anyone else notice this on their blades?

Any idea what the rpm max is?
These blades have not touched the ground at all and I notice a crack in the root. I'm thinking it's just the gelcoat. I'm gonna try to confirm rpm I'm using them at..

Casey,

I have my swash AFR set to 85% on my DX7. Can I increase it more to get a faster roll rate? I'm also considering the 19T.

Just make sure the swash doesn't hit the main shaft on the bottom or the shaft collar, and the swash inner plastic doesn't bind on the main shaft on top. Also be sure at max pitch and max ele/aileron throw that the head doesn't bind up in the flybar and pitch linkages too much. If anything bottoms out, you'll have to back off atv. (or limit endpoints) It's like endpoints for both ends of the servo travel at once.

Don't forget you can set up a dual rate circuit switch to play with roll rate on the fly to try a few settings each flight. Pre-flight check each setting for bindage before switching to and from rate circuits in flight though

Casey, I think I have a couple hairline fractures in the gelcoat of mine too. I'll check when I get home.
