I know that! I have looked for many of his films and try to simulate what hi does! I know that he is probably one of the best pilots in the world! I just mean that he gets so much publicity, where all of the other very good pilots doesnt get any! That was just my point. I just mean that many good pilots disapear when the Szabo brothers gets so much publicity. :-)

Just my 2 cents :-)

Not true! If you or anyone else want to be reasonable enough in this sport than there is a simple way --> go ahead and fly better! That is that simple!
Go to every single FunFly (not local but for example today in USA next week in Australia and then in China), be friendly with people, spend YOUR time testing, explaining and inventing things which later will be used by everyone e.t.c. believe me it is a very hard JOB to be famous! VERY HARD! It is like damnation. There is no such thing like you personal time and you always got to something! It is very hard to live like this and I think that they deserve at least our cheers! Believe me that means a lot for them!
Just my 2 cents as well!
Garry.

Don't mean to play the devil's advocate, and I know he's (Alan) super good and all. But has he won any major competitions, and I mean 1st place? XFC, 3DM, F3C/FAI competitions, etc.

By all accounts, if you take national and world heli competitions into consideration, Curtis Youngblood is the USA gold standard, bar none.

And I think I read somewhere he (CY) also has a degree in Mechanical Engineering.

So there you have it, engineer, multi world champion, and now successful business person.

Not that Mr. Szabo isn't blazing his own trails ...

Envious, who me !?

Of course I am (many others as well). Only 20 years old and flies like gangbusters.

I have his Ultimate 3D dvd, and is by far my favorite 3D media source. It's helped me a lot. So I give credit where credit is due.

His 3D routines are also very inspiring. Keeps me hooked on the hobby (and my wallet empty)...

As for the comparison, how can anyone dispute CY's record of championships, efforts in heli mechanical design, and not to mention pioneering many flight maneuvers.

But why compare? They are two very good pilots but Curtis is flying more than 20 years so it's natural to have so many titles under his belt. Wait 20 years and if till then AZ has no titles then I'll agree with you.

Also the fact that CY has a master degree has nothing to do. Does that mean that he is flying better? Or he is a better person than other good pilots that do not have a degree? Or does it proove he is smarter? The education level has nothing to do with their flying skills.

The fact that Alan has not won the first place in an international event does not mean anything as well. Consider that till now he was flying with Raptors which are very good machines but not as good for such competition levels. And even then he was always between the first and was making Raptors which are top sport flying helicopters look equal if not better than high class competition helis. Last year his helicopters were stollen in 3DM and this year was competing with a 50 class electric. Why don't you see that he is always smilling even if he has lost the first place and he is always there to share his knowledge and be friendly with anyone. Try to be in his shoes. Knowing you are one of the best pilots world wide and try to feel the pressure he feels. And with all this pressure log in here and read the comments that some people are writting for you. How do you feel. At least frustated

So we better recognize their tallent with no envious comments. They really worth it

Hey, it gives me some measure of confidence that my Radix blades weren't designed by some hack off the street.

And it helps to have a brain ...

Take a course in engineering dynamics or foil design and you'll have a better appreciation for "gyroscopic precession" and blade efficiency.

Is it required for winning championships? I don't know. But I posit that it offers an edge.

As with anything in life, sometimes a slight edge is all that's needed ...

BTW, the world doesn't stand still. Just look at the crop of ultra talented pilots hailing from Israel and yonder.

Will he continue to be top ranked? Of course. But it just means the field will be that much more crowded with top talent. Nonetheless, he will continue to be the one to watch.

Having a better appreciation for "gyroscopic precession" and blade efficiency doesn't make you good pilot. Give a helicopter to a NASA scientist will he hover it?

He can probably design a robot to do that ...

But I still think it helps. Note that I'm not a multi world champion (and I suspect neither are you). So my opinion is just that, worth less that $0.02

But I suppose you can ask CY himself if his education has helped him in his illustrious career, and prove me wrong when you hear it from the horse's mouth.

But the idea that an education is not beneficial for, or would somehow hinder a person's mental awareness or proficiency for flight dynamics seems ridiculous to me.

Man, I feel like I'm in a high school cheerleading rally.

Over and out. Need to get back to Alan's Ultimate 3D dvd, if you don't mind.
