i havent seen the quick gasser up close. but if the machining is like that of the older v1 stuff for the raptor with screws holding in the bearings or brittle metal than its not for me. plus i dont like the personality of irwin. and i have a few pm's that will prove how rude he is. and i never said anything bad about his product and he jumped all over me. and that isnt my first dealing with him either in person it's worse. so i would rather not have the product thats all.

Oh, I see. I know there are screws in the swash, but other than that, no screws anywere else. I've been flying HHI products since 96 and never had a swash fail. If you don't like that, then there are several makes of helis that you will have to cut out of your options. I have also never encountered "brittle" metal. Everything has been machined aluminum. Oh well, to each their own. I just like being able to keep some $ in my pocket.

i hear ya shuttlepilot. i like to keep money in my pocket also but dont mind paying for quality, not just average run of the mill. i also look at it this way i dont drink, do drugs or go to bars and waste money there so i can spend it on my helis. all my gadgets are top notch and like it that way. i learnd early in rc not to double buy pay alittle more first for quality and not have to worry down the road. i took that knowledge to every aspect of my life and sofar so good. i know you pay for quality and customer service. but for no reason should i pay for alright quality and customer service that just pushes you away when you ask questions and then say you dont know what your talking about i refuse. if i wanted someone to say i dont know somthing i'll just ask my girlfriend lol. again i have been in the (rc) hobby since i was 15 and now 33 so i know what i'm talking about and 70% of the time i am dead spot on. so i am not one of the guys hat started in this hobby with "ready to run" mentality.
when i started there was nothing ready to run you built everything and new quality when you saw it. as for the swash issue i havent seen any other helis with screws holding in the bearings? usually those items should be a pressed in but i could be wrong. and as for my issue with the blade grips why couldnt the spindle or feathering shaft be machined like all others so that only one screw in the center holds it on and in place. rather than 2 screws and a washer on each side of the bearing?

but i have made up my mind anyway and with several calls back and forth. numerous emails and actually seeing one inperson i am going with the illegal word hahaha what a joke air-star. and i know what your going to say. but that was sometime ago and by far the best quality i have seen here on the market. plus made here in the good old USA so how could you go wrong.

just wanted to thank yu guys here on runryder for all your help with all my questions and your opinions
thanks again
rick

Just use the search to find out who is the most reliable and best the prices for parts. The Reps who will have the best information to help. Some are new to gassers and some have the least number in flight.

bergen all the way!!!! I have flew and owned his helis for along time. I also know the bergens well, they run a top notch business you won't be disapointed. Like one of the other post said, There are only three upgrades you don't need anymore.

Like I said, to each their own. I don't really know what you mean by the blade grips and screws All of the Hirobos that I have flown had the same configuration of the spindle, also JR. I not trying to start a war or anything. I have been in rc since I was 12, so I guess that would be 28 years, and helis since 87. So I kinda think I know a little about this hobby also.
but for no reason should i pay for alright quality and customer service that just pushes you away when you ask questions and then say you dont know what your talking about i refuse.
I don't think I'm doing that. If Air* will give you that, that's great. Apparently you haven't read some of the posts on here that I have. Best of luck to you and have fun.

well shuttlepilot

i have read many posts on air* and i also did a little investigation well mot me personally but a friend of mine. he does lets say dirty computer work. and i was told one thing and it came up very true about a somewhat similar product supplier and if you ask me thats dirty. if you want to know the details pm if not its all good. i by all means didnt say you do not know anything at all. i am sure you know alot more about helis than i do. but i know what i like thats all if i can get a heli upgraded from start i would prefer that than buy it then spend another 500-1000 later on in upgrades that i find rediculous. maybe irwin is giving you better service like i said i just didnt like the way i was treated 3 years in a row and then the pm's i got so any who. i looked and spoke to alot of companies and after all the talking and emails it came down to 2 bergen and air* if i had enough money after all the holidays i would have bought both. but with future plans for a fuse next winters project i went with the air. plus did a comparison on my own and as of this weeks prices from almost 10 different places with all upgrades air comes out 28% less then the average gasser. and as for some of the posts its funny how all they do is bring up the same OLD topic from quite awhile ago. everyone makes mistakes its hard in the hobby business especially if you have to import your product. but havent read that he beat anyone out of anything just took to long. to be honest i have had no problem with communication what so ever. i also see the qww heli flyer on your bottom that is probably why you also get better treatment lmao. i am sure i am going to enjoy my heli like you enjoy yours. i know i will enjoy it more cause its not glow and not have to do half the amount of tunning due to the weather. cause my fg 23 runs the same in the snow as it does in the sand just takes a little longer to warm up. plus the $3.00 weekend flights are going to be great lol

HeliW

As long as your happy with what you have, and you are having fun, that's what counts the most. I, like you, am very happy that I can fly for $3.00 on a weekend
I put the QWW heli flyer for a tag line on my own. I'm not officially sponsered by QWW, but Irwin and I have a good business relationship. I'm not nearly a good enough pilot to be "sponsered" by anyone.. It's sad to say that after flying helis for 20 years

I have looked at the Air* helis, and they look really nice. I haven't seen one in person, but I'm sure it's pretty impressive "in the flesh". Besides, if everyone liked the same things, the world world be a pretty boring place, and technology would slow down because of the lack of competition. We get to reap the benefits of that competition on many levels. That's what it is all about.
Bottom line......have fun.
