Use with Spektrum DX6 Teceiver / xmtr.

OK, I have given these instructions a go, and can't seem to make it enter the menu, nor do I really have an idea of where I want the settings.

I have had the TX on, rudder stick to the right, then plugged in the gyro, it goes through a quick self scan, the TL led is lit, and the 3rd yellow led over flickers for about 1 second, off for 1/2 (approx. values) - then keeps repeating. I can't seem to enter the menu no matter what I do. Also, not sure what values (if any) I need to adjust on the Tx. Also, once I get in the Gyro menu, I'm not sure where I want the values set.

I am flying a Logo10, HS-81 servo for the gyro. Spektrum DX6

Thanks for any help!

It sounds like maybe it's not getting a good signal from the gain channel -

Make sure you have it plugged in correctly with the 3-wire lead plugged into the RUDDER channel with the black wire to the edge of the RX and the white wire to the inside and the 1-wire lead plugged into the GEAR channel with the white wire to the inside -

In the system menu of your DX6 assign the D/R SW to .A and GER to E so that you can control the gyro gain via the Elevator D/R switch -

Maybe start with the GER TRV ADJ at 50 both ends and see if the gyro cooperates after that.

Thanks!! That got me into the menu, and the tail servo operating.

What I don't understand however, is the gain - right now, it says it's set at 91-100% (on the gyro led), but that sounds awful high, and I can't seem to change it,.....

The flight mode switchs works to change from TL to normal, cool!!

I guess my concern, is the lag on operation after I let go of the stick (sitting on the work bench, no motor turning), I go full right stick, and it must be .2 seconds before it starts to travel back to Neutral,.... is this normal? will it change when it actually has torque to overcome?

Thanks again for the quick reply and help.

You've assigned the Gear channel to the Flight Mode (F) switch instead of the Elevator D/R (E) switch - So go back into the system menu and change that because you don't really want it on the FMode switch -

After that you will be able to switch between Rate and HH mode via the Elevator D/R switch and adjust the gain from the TRV ADJ GER function menu - So adjust the Gear channel travel while toggling the Elevator D/R switch and watching the lights on the gyro -

Sounds like you have the Rotate Rate on the gyro turned way down - I'd set it to around neutral or above then adjust it to your liking while test flying.

Many Thanks

Many thanks Captain Chaos,

I've got it all set right now, HH on the E D/R switch, anjusted gain to 75%.

Is there any idea where I should set my gains to?

HH?

Normal?

Thanks so much for you help!!

You have to love RR. I just got my 2100 last night and was ready to pull my hair out reading their "english translation". Came on here for advice and right at the top is this thread. Thanks in advance for the help.

You'll have to find your own gain settings also - Increase the gain and hover the heli until the tail starts to wag then back the gain off some to ensure the wagging won't reoccur.

I dropped the 2100 in my Hummingbird Pro Elite and WOW! I love this thing! It took less than 5 minutes to have it up and running. I want to tweak it a bit but it's rock solid. Shows how big of a POC that G90 was. For only $20 more you get a real gyro. It's driving an E-Flite S-75 servo no less. I can't wait for warm weather so I can try it in my Hawk Pro. I'll definately get their servo to go with it for the Hawk.

guys..i'm using a futaba tx.. in terms of setting, how different is it? does it mean that i can't use the "gy gain" function on my tx and just adjust the gain on the 2100 gyro itself? or its like when i change the gain settings on my tx, the led on the 2100 will follow? thanks.

On my Spektrum, when I adjust the gain in the TX, it changes the gain (and the LED indicator) on the Gyro itself. Setting it should be about the same.

Hope that helps

I believe when you do the RX Selection setup the gyro will configure itself to Futaba's travel range - You'll just have to play with it to see what happens - There is no manual gain setting at the gyro itself -

I use the channel travel adjust instead of the gyro sense features on my JR style Spektrums and the gyro matches it's gain nicely with the 0-100% range of the available 150% travel adjustment range - I haven't tried it with the JR/Spektrum gyro sense feature because I don't like that it's not assignable to it's native stand alone switch that way (go figure).

I just saw that they say not to use the 2100 in nitro birds. Anyone know why?

The manual just says to not get conductive or flammable substances such as oil inside it - Maybe someone interpreted that as to not use it with nitros because of the oil spewing exhaust?

I just got my gyro dialed in. Thanks for the translation. This little sucker kicks ass! Very easy to set up and holds better than my 401 did on the trex. It's only 30 degrees here so I was getting a bit of tail bounce from the belt becoming loose. Thanks for the translation, made life a lot easier!

I finally got my H2 together and took it out for a couple tests hops with this gyro and my frankensteined tail setup and so far I'm pretty damned impressed with it all -

Before I could do any hops I found the HS-50 I had on it was DOA for some reason so I had to swap it out for an HDS-877 I had laying around -

First hop was in analog mode and just made mechanical adjustments and did some trimming - There was some small wagging but it seemed to be holding fine but I didn't challenge it yet -

Second hop was in digital mode and I played with the gain some and it was still wagging that little bit but I did some punch outs to see how she holds which were rock solid all the way up and down - I was very impressed -

But about the 4th or 5th punch out my ESC overheated and killed all power letting the heli drop to the pavement - Landed on the skids and only broke a landing strut and bent my newly replaced mH tail box -

My tail setup at the moment is a mH gear box HDX300 tail rotor & pitch slider (slightly modded) and offset servo arm to match the offset tail blade deflection to utilize the rotational exponential of the servo arm to produce unequal left/right blade deflections with equal left/right servo arm deflections -

More testing to come after repairs and cooling mods.

Nah it's my beloved MS Hornet 2 that's in my gallery - Thanks anyway though.

A 3D Pro tail system would be interesting to try though.

Well here's the answer from Logictech on why you cant use the 2100 on nitro birds.
Quote:
The LTG-2100T was designed for a small heli only.
It has some different characteristics between nitro heli with electric heli. ( vibration, rpm, power consumption of tail servo, ... etc )
Thanks.
LOGICTECH Co., LTD
So there it is, straight from the horse's mouth. That being said has anyone tried it anyways? Results?
