My dad and I were cleaning my sisters fish tank while she was at a friend's house (kinda to surprise her).
Anyway, we did it the proper way, were extremely careful with the fish and 2 frogs, and even cleaned the filter/pump.
When we were completely done, we reset the pump speed, which has an adjusting knob on it. By closing it, there is obviously slower movement of the water and vise-versa.
My dad set it to full speed/power, but I thought it was way too much for the little fish and half-inch frogs (it might as well have been a vortex in the tank). I lowered the speed till it didn't propel the water everywhere...
BUT What I didn't know was that at the same time, I also slowed the speed at which it cleaned the tank.....
This afternoon we looked into the tank which was cloudy and were surprised to see the fish belly-up and went from a deep purple color to a faded black (
)
the frogs were just all lop-sided at the bottom.
What do I do now? Obviously a new fish and pair of frogs need to be bought, but they just aren't the same (kind of like dogs/cats).
She's pretty upset (I should have known that I closed the filter partially
)
