I have been flying for about 9 months now, and never had a crash, until this morning.

I was doing rolls, one after another while flying in a straight line, when I got a little to far out and lost orentation/control. I drove her straight into a concrete building at about 40 MPH!! The heli darted into the wall, smashed the nose so bad the battery disconected, I was lucky the heli didn't do the chicken dance! I have yet to actually tally up the bill, but I can tell you it will be a re-kit for sure!

It basically shattered the front servo tray entirely. I know both frames are cracked along with a distroyed tail assy and the head sustained quite a blow aswell (bent main, feather, washout assy, most links,flybar....etc) It was quite a site to see

I will make an actual parts total when I get it all sorted out.

Here are a few pictures......Damn I gonna miss my her...

Of coarse I know how to fly this thing, but if you see me running try to keep up!!

WOW

Sorry to see that man. At least you did it while pushing the envelope a little bit. Dude....all I can say is when you do something it doesn't look like you do it half way. Good to hear you aren't discouraged and you're gonna rekit. Keep pushing the envelope.

Aw bummer dude

I've crashed twice in my entire life of flying. One was due to the tail pitch slider locking up, the other was my fault.
Good luck with the rebuild.

Doggone! You don't mess around! I feel your pain. Looks like alot of the head parts are good and maybe even muffler.

You aren't going to miss her. You are gonna get her flying again.

Good luck on the rebuild.

It looks like you've been flying in an industrial park? Yeah, buildings are worse than trees to smack into.

Your crash rate is pretty good though. So far, my crash rate is about one crash every 3 flights, and a major crash every 10 flights. Luckly, these Honeybee parts are very reasonable. A bad crash might cost me $25 and 40 minutes worth of wrenching to recover from. (Hey, I've got to be able to gloat about something!

Now I'm a newb here in helicopter land, but with planes, I always like to have an easy-to-fly, durable, non-aerobatic bird with cheap and easily obtainable parts. That way, when I crash a fancy one and am out of commission for a while I'm not totally out of the game.

Ever consider a Honeybee CP?

Oh, sorry to hear of your crash. It is a bummer.

I just priced out a new kit and all the carbon/Hop-up parts to make her as she was before the crash......$575(World's Most expensive 30)

I have now come to a fork in the road. I was going to add to the fleet next month, with a 90 class bird(Ma Stratus), and keep the 30 as a practice bird.

Here lies the problem: The price of a Titan 50 kit with a 50 Hyper CF 600's is about $640. The price to get the 30 back to pre-crash condition is $575!!

I would like to upgrade to a Titan 50, yet I have a Extra NIB O.S.37Sz-h,3 sets of CF 550's, tons of 30 booms, belts, and tons of spares specificly for the 30V2...etc

I guess another 30 would be the least expensive route.

Oh well...I will have all the power I need to flip flop all over the sky, when I get my Stratus

Any chance of selling the spares you've got for the .30 and not getting completely raped? If so, maybe just go with the bigger one and save some money by only having to keep one bird air-worthy.

Otherwise, your .50 just got pushed back.

Highly unlikely!

I will need to check the guys at the local field to see if they need any Raptor 30 parts..

Only two real causes of crashes.

1. You put too much bling on it.
2. After months of tweakin, it's finally flying perfectly.

Flying for 9 months and crash only once ... you have an extremely low crash rate although this one costs you an arm and a leg. I have been flying for almost a year, and so far I have got one major crash (over $100) and many minor crashes (under $30).

That heli had almost 15 Gallons thru it!!

I flew it hard, Cleaned it to the extreme after every session, and kept an insanely detailed flight/mantainance log book on it. Mabey thats why it never let my down once!!

I will say that Raptors may not be the most liked, best flying, nor most atractive helicopters, but they are a blast to fly and an excellent value!!

BTW..... My new 30V2 with all the extras leaves Billings Montana at noon tommorrow.

I PLOWED my r-50 this weekend too. I feel your pain! I was screwing around and trying to do free falling piro tic tocs way to low and then BAM! I slammed the nose so hard that the canopy is half the length now. I just put on a multi gov that day and a month or two ago I put in a new rx that are now toast! So far I'm in for the following:

Raptor parts: $150+
blades: $100
149 dp rx : $160
multi gov: $100
possible os 50 hyper. It screamed to 10000000 rpms for a few seconds when the main gear let go on impact. : Possible $200
Chooped up a few servo leads too

So I got slammed for a nice $500-700 r50 crash Geez I really go big when I crash. My last R50 crash a few months ago was a rekit disaster that ran up near the $700 mark !

I wish I could crash once every 9 months! I guess I just push way too hard sometimes!
