Hell Sandles: 1964 was no diff. Matter of fact, when I came home from Jump School, at Ft. Campbell,1962 had a hard time getting a ride. When I got home from Hawaii,1964, wearing uniform was almost a no. no.
After that, it was all down hill. Biggest bunch of BS, that I have ever seen. Lost a lot of friends to that one.

I was catching a bus, in Houston, late 61, going to Ft. Campbell, for Jump School., after leave, from Basic,at Ft. Hood, Tx. and signal school, at ft. Gordon ,. Ga. Had some Special Forces Troops, maybe a dozen, in the bus station. You would have thought they had the "Clap". No one would even sit next to em. Really Pis$ed me off. Thats when I woke up, something here , just ain't right. Seems like everything went Jane Fonda , after that.

You know: Now that you mention it, when I was debriefed at Oakland, was also told to wear civies on the way home. What a world. Cain't be proud of fighting for your country, so to speak.

So if you were there or if it was your dad uncle cousin I don't care. SIGHN IN.
4 of my uncles were in.

1 Aircraft engine mechanic
2 Motor Pool
1 Tunnel rat

The only one that liked(he died of cancer a few years ago) to talk about his time over there was the one in the air force. Occasionally you'll hear some funny stories out of the ones that were in the motor pool (one time at a family party one of the motor pool uncles started talking about watching one of his friends get blown up by a mine in the road... but that was the only time I heard him talk like that about his time there). My uncle who was a tunnel rat was really messed up when he got back and my mom told me he would just go crazy sometimes destroying cars on dealership lots for no reason... kind of wandered a lot. He met a former hippie girl, quit drink, and started going to support groups and stuff. It seems like a strange situation to me but they complete eachother. Sort of balance one another I guess. Now he's a pretty quote-unquote normal dude. Much calmer. Occasionally he'll wig out on someone and jack 'em up by their throat and threaten to kill them, but some people need to know their limitations. My uncles just the kind of guy who's not afraid to let people know where those limitations are. lol

My father was drafted... but he is diabetic. They didn't want him.

Really a damned shame. Got friends, here in Livingston. totally screwed up. Younger than me, 62, and having head and physical problems. If they ain't drinking, they are smoking, or worse. Wasted humanity, thanks to Uncle Sam, and Lyndon Johnson.

McNamara and Rumsfeld, got to be first cousins. Go look at some 1962 vids. Were going to win this war, cause we are right. right. Get a grip.
