I am here to give thanks to Captain Chaos, who's knowledge and selfless advice has helped me breath life into, what I like to call,The Creature.Captain, after all the holiday crap was over and I finaly sat down to The Creature,I followed your set-up instructions and got everything dialed in just right
Armed with my trusty DX6 and a full lipo,I proceeded to the back yard to put it to the final test. Well, after I spooled her up,the tail drifted just a hair,I countered with a little sub trim and she was off!Just about halfway through the pack,I discovered a couple things.
1.My backyard is not big enough for my level of flying(too many obsticles)
2.The TREX SE is not,I repeat,IS NOT MY BLADE CP!
Yes,by now you've probably guessed it.I crashed.
Totaly my fault. All the advice I got helped me get it to the point of a stable hover. Finally! And for that I am eternaly greatfulTo be honest, when she got off the ground, and was holding there steady,I felt like DR Frankenstien when his "hobby" came to life."It's Alive",was the first thing that came to mind.
But my skills,or lack of,was the culprit. You see,in my excitement of the flight, and not being used to the quick response of the inputs,(once again,NOT a BCP)I slowly drifted too close to our air conditioner. And a deadly combination of suddenly cutting the throttle and pulling back on the cyclic, resulted in a catostrophic event.
The 325's broke into four pieces, one piece, now shaped like a dagger, ended up impaled in my lawn.A bent tail boom.Broken horizontal and vertical stabilizers.Hey,why not both! And a broken tail boom/stabilizer bracket.Oh and did I mention, the screw that holds the head to the main shaft, is missing the nut that holds it all together.
But,She flew! And even though The Creature is broken and bruised.I will learn from my mistakes and make sure that this wont happen again.I will put in more time on the sim, even though it's just FMS.And I will repair and I will be back in the air!.God help us all.But once again I have to give thanks to all in this forum for all the help I recieved to this point. And especially to Captain Chaos for your set-up tips that got the beast off the table and into the air.
Helis are like crack.
