It was bound to happen, and of course it would be today when I was just burning off fuel before the winter months. I was not doing anything crazy just figure 8's and stall turns. Went up to the left did a 540 stall turn and the Raptor 50 just continued to piro, it was falling knife edge and I couldn't get it upright after fighting what seemed an eternity I threw it in hold at about 20 feet up. It landed on the tail and header tank side. List of damaged parts includes:
Carbon Tech tails
Main shaft (possible)
Collective servo horn
Rudder servo horn
Elevator servo horn
Wind screen on canopy
Header tank mount
Ni-mh receiver pack (one cell vented)
Hoping I didn't get dirt in the engine or bend the high speed needle.
The Radix blades are what really suxs, the rest is ok. Each blade broke in 2 places.
Sorry I don't have pics at this point. But after begining to tear it down it appears the set screws that hold the tail grips on began to back out and caused the tail to slip on the shaft. I should have put in in hold sooner but I tried to get it upright. Oh well at least my first one is in the bag and I can rebuild over the winter with the SUS tail being upgraded.
Back to football and partlisting now.
