Wonder if it's necessary?

It would be cool to see the peak current and power.

I'm using Flight Power EVO 2150mah 3s, Align 430 engine with 13T pinion and Align esc.

Gets about 7 minutes of 3D flying and the battery and engine feels pretty cold after flight.

I have a similar one:

http://aeromicro.com/Catalog/astrof...ter_1519029.htm

It is larger and heavier (3.6 oz - 102 g), but can be carried on the helicopter. It only got used a few times in flight. Now it is connected to a no-display TP-425 charger for battery status. Not necessary at all, and not useless either.

Consider a data logger such as Eagle Tree Systems has, if you have some change rattling around looking for a place to be spent.

The AstroFlight Whattmeter is the original... I got one too but haven't used it much since acquiring an Eagletree.
