Hey all,

I think I am going to order the new RF 3.5. I will be using it for helis only. Is the stock 3.5 good enough or are any of the add ons or expansion packs well worth the extra money?

I have G 3.5 and really like it. I also have all the add ons plus both Exspansion Packs. The helis that come with G3.5 are good. If you are interested in the Raptors you will need add ons 3. You will like G3.5 Chuck

Same here . Don't bother with the two orignal Addons (one and two) as they have no helis .

At the end of the day , it gets dark .

A lot depends on what your flying ability is and what interests you the most

I suggest you Just get RF3.5 this now..all the heli's can be tweeked to suit anyhow. There are plenty of free downloads about too..Fields and Models.. keep you happy for a while at least

Expansion pack 2 has the Avant! I am not very impressed by the simulators performance. To do it over I would shop around before buying G3.5.

Get 3.5 and then go to knifeedge.com -> forums -> swap pages

There you will find some very nice heli models to use in your training.

Maybe also consider Expansion Pak 2 on account of the Raptor 90 SE that's in it.

And finally, as fun as it is to zip around you should spend some serious time (with your favorite music playing) just hovering your bird.

squirrel..What is the reson/s your not overly happy with your G3?

Zman, expansion Pak 1 and 2 have more helicopter models..should try..

i have both Expansion Pak 1 and 2 because i need to fly X-cell/Avant
but too sad.. it have some problem need real flight support to help..

Poor and unpredictable performace, I have ran it on several platforms and it has "quirks" running on all of them. It is really amazing that it does not run properly on our Dell Precision 360 CAD workstation, that platform is certified to run all of the high end applications and has several gigs of ram. It does so-so on our Dell latitude 600 laptop. It seems to work alot better in photofield. Fortunatley these guys don't work for me, I would fire all of them and hire professional programmers, the guys hacking code at home do a much better job at testing and quality control.

Hi Squirrel..I've been pretty lucky then and only had minor niggles.
I do have a reasonable PC with decent Graphics card in it. AMD 3500+ 1024 ran, nvidea 6800 Ultra 256 meg ddr..My limiting factor being my 19" flatscreen 1280 x 1024 32bit

Yes the photofields do run a lot faster but rendered fields are good to. There is one exception thats the Alpine field which is acceptable but not as good as it could be. I think the reason is it's part rendered a seems to be a higer definition photo.

I might just edit all the rendered bits out and compare the frame rates to see if thats the difference

3.5 does seem a little more unstable than v3..448 I find it especially in the multiplayer

I'm no PC Guru, more a tinkerer! but reckon part of my problem is running through a wireless router..prevents me from hosting. The other errors I get is failed to send player packet info..or something..could not connect to at least one player..the other bug I get is when I log into a field (usually Waco) when I have my first crash the model is..miles away, but I found if I re-select the model it starts on the heli spawn point after that

Overall I'm happy... Having flown Reflex at a show and on a friends PC I would still pick G3 for two reasons..The TX and Multiplayer

Multi player has been a hoot..at first I wasn't sure but it's like going to the field to fly with the Guys, keeps the interest going much longer..too long sometimes!

I have the real flight with the recent 3.5 upgrade. Both have a very irritating problem in that the helicopter will instantly change from nose in to nose out. or vice versa when near the center of the screen (read my previous post for details) The problem is difficult to deal with.
