I just put the first 4 tanks through My synergy, Pretty hard to get the starter out of a hex coupler that is turning all the time!!!
After the last flight while it was idling on the ground it froze up suddenly, Got it home and found the clutch bell bearing had grenaded.
I set this thing up to spec with only 1 mil runout on my shaft, all spacings were correct, I don't understand, Must have been a bad bearing.
I had to pound the Hex coupler off, Not good, The shaft is way too soft, This seems like a poor design and a potential weak link on this model, Any help available?

Let me have it in 3D

Try getting a hold of Todd and Synergy. He is going to be your best source on getting things perfect.

1mm runout?????? if thats what you put it to you found your problem. also did you happen to check the middle and bottom of the shaft? mines was spot on at the tip and 8 thou in the middle and 5 at the base. i.e it was bent. new one on way.

the start shaft needs dremeled to stop the hex catching...you found out the hard way it looks like unfortunately.

cheers

Clutch
I just pressed the shaft out of the clutch and found that prior to pressing it that it was not flush to the inside, Should it be, it was about 2 to 3 mm recessed, after removing it I noticed that it had spun in the clutch and marred the shaft pretty good, Im wonderring if this is what caused the bearing to fry? and why?

sounds to me like the start shaft was bent, dialed incorrectly or moved after you did dial. as i said, one of my synergys was .5 thou at the tip and 8 thou in the middle.

cheers

Clutch
I checked it all the way and it dialed no more than .001 all the way up the shaft, I did have a considerably hard time staring it the first time and cranked on it for a while, I'm wondering if it spun the shaft in the clutch during the attempt?

clutch
No, It never did but it is an OS 91 Hard cranking mother, It ran smooth once we got it leaned out a bit but it flew great and had no vibration at all, The only issue I had was removing the starter from the spinning shaft a couple of times but no real stress that I could see.
