Owning a gun is not just a right here in the USA...it is a responsibility to own one. If we were as smart of a country as we think we are.. we would make everyone own and know how to use a weapon. If every criminal knew each and every person they were about to assault had a weapon it would occur with much less frequency. Also and more important is this....every country in this world should have its' citizens armed so if their government ever went bad and turned against them....the citizens could take their country back. However, you break certain laws....you loose your weapon and the right to carry it.

Random shootings in American streets are not that common. If you go to a bad neighborhood in a big city then your chances increase.

We have yet to figure out how to shrink a police officer to fit in our pocket and they have not developed patrol cars that can travel at light speed. So many American's take responsibility for protecting themselves. And just the fact that there are Americans out there that take that responsibility tends to reduce crime because the criminal often can't tell who is who.

Plus we have more people to make news.
