Hey guys,

I'm just looking around for a new heli (haven't decided anything yet).
Anyway, about how many flights would one get from a gallon of nitro with an OS50 hyper?

And what kind of flight times do you get with that motor and a set-up for moderate flight?
Thanks

Tommy

You can get about 12-15 flights out of a gallon at about 12 minutes each flight if you are just sport flying and not pushing hard 3D.

Flight time depends on the headspeed and nitro content of the fuel. With 30% fuel and 2000+ headspeed you can suck down more than a gallon in one weekend. With 10-15% fuel and 1700 headspeed you can fly more than twice as long.

A Raptor 50 with an OS Hyper is definitely not intended to be an economy helicopter – it’s intended to give you the maximum power to weight ratio.

If you are just starting out a Raptor 30 or Raptor 50 with a TT 50 engine will give you more flight time. Also you don’t need high nitro fuel until you are ready to learn 3D.

You can go from 20% to 30% on the same engine? Cool.
What if you pull the headspeed down to like 1850-1900? wouldn't that give longer flight times?
If I do get a raptor (or an other heli for that matter) it won't be for 3D. Just all around flying.

A Raptor 50 will get just about 11 full flights from a gallon of fuel.
With 30% and and MPII I get 9 min of flight time (not draining the header). 100rpm of upper-end speed doesn't make a significant difference in economy.

Well, what I meant by lower the headspeed was change the gearing.
In my t-rex, I plan on putting in an 11 tooth pinion to get longer flight times and of course it will also lower my headspeed by a hundred or two hundred.

BEN T

How about a Raptor 90 flights per gallon>?
And does the same apply to 12% fuel to extend times. And does YS91 get more than OS91?

By the way good info I didnt realize that much difference in just switching nitro content.

Lol, if you are really worried about fuel consumption get a 30, 50 hypers are thirsty and 90's are very thirsty

I did also notice that when I added a governor, I got quite a bit more "time per tank". 50 and 70 size on 30% .

It don't matter how you get there, if you don't know where your going.
