The problem here is that this subject touches a raw nerve. On one hand, one is completely and utterly free do do as they please with their own property provided it doesn't inflict damage on another. The flip side is that many of us here on RR invest alot of ourselfes & time & money on our helis, and it hurts to see someone reclessly smashing up their heli simply because we care so much.

WOT fugs ?

Having followed this thread out of morbid curiosity over the last few weeks, I remember a post about using a high powered rifle, was it a 50 calibre machine gun?

One question.

Where do the stray bullets go?

--- moreover, what happens if there is a radio failure and the heli starts piroing while firing it's gun
I heard that some bloke fitted loads of rockets to his heli and let them off while piroing people were running everywhere

Maybe a guy should fit a payload of white flower to the heli...drop it's powdered load downtown washington...I'll bet there would be loads of gunfire and pretty rockets heading for that heli...followed by a long jail visit .

I wonder if they care about the stray bullets ??

That sounds like a plan with no obvious downside!

Last time I checked, this is about a situation where the gun is mounted on the ground . . . . where have you been ? ? ? ?

Are you advocating arming the heli ? ? ? ?

BTW, the US military has already done that, arming an RC air vehicle.
- - - - no surprise there.

I'm not advocating anything. Just thought I'd mention it. There was a topic on the military RC heli armed with a semi-automatic a good few months ago.

Yes, and that was done for and under the supervision of the military, using a special shot gun provided by the military.

What's your point ? ?

Are you trying to inform or inflame ? ?

Pay the above nonsense no mind, Guy. AWRC effectively hoists himself quite laughingly upon his own petard. Repeatedly. No help required.

Oh? Then why not leave it on all the time? If you continue to peek through the blinds at my comments like you do folks are gonna start to wonder.

Crikey, handbags at dawn.
Why are you lot getting your nickers in a twist ?
I only commented on the gun thing because it came up. My point is that it's bloody dangerous and I would be doubtfull that even the military were responsible enough to manage such a deadly weapon. They might even end up killing somebody and we wouldn't want that now would we.

Unless you are aware of associated actions being taken, you really have little place to make comments. Example, firing a .50 on a controlled range. Berm at the end of and likely also sides of the range, range rules that all are required to follow, etc. Perfectly safe in my book. The only problem is paranoid anti-gun types.

As safe, actually safer, than someone learning to drive, getting a drivers license and being let out on the open road. Those people kill about 40,000 to 50,000 per year here in the US.

Did you read my post here ?

Shame, perhaps people will begin to realise they shouldn't be relying on cars so much, they're obviously not very good for you.

Yug, I quoted you only because I really think that is where a lot of the attitudes actually differ. I believe that many out there feel like I do and that is: if you don't care about your heli then I don't care either. It doesnt matter if it is a Raptor 50 or a full scale A-Star. If you don't care - I don't care. I have been taught that your property is yours and you have the freedom to do with it as you please. I have no illusions that you are obligated to give me (or sell to me real cheap) your remote controlled, full scale A-Star instead of intentionally flying it wide open into a mountainside.

However, if you spent your hard earned money on a Blade CP and accidentally flew your "pride and joy" into a tree chipper and it brakes your heart then I care. I have been there and I understand your pain. If I had the spare parts I would likely help you get it back together.

So if this guy doesn't give a squat about his heli and wants to gain entertainment from the destruction of it and share that with others then to that I say "Thank You". I can't wait to see the video.

If you do not want to share in his entertainment then all you need say is "No thank you". Because by god, this person lives in a country where so long as he respects the safety and well being of others he has the freedom to do as he damn well pleases with it even if you believe it is the most "asinine" thing in the world.

I supported this guy's mission from the start. I just wanted to see the video. Now to be honest, as threads of this type continue I root him on and want to see him do this just because I believe that there are those out there that feel the hardcore NEED to police and control things they believe are "asinine" even if is absolutely none of their damn business. I want to see this happen just to fly the video in the face of these type of control freaks.

And since this is "Movie Quote Week"....
Edgar Friendly: You see, according to Cocteau's plan I'm the enemy, 'cause I like to think; I like to read. I'm into freedom of speech and freedom of choice. I'm the kind of guy likes to sit in a greasy spoon and wonder - "Gee, should I have the T-bone steak or the jumbo rack of barbecued ribs with the side order of gravy fries?" I WANT high cholesterol. I wanna eat bacon and butter and BUCKETS of cheese, okay? I want to smoke Cuban cigar the size of Cincinnati in the non-smoking section. I want to run through the streets naked with green jello all over my body reading playboy magazine. Why? Because I suddenly might feel the need to, okay, pal? I've SEEN the future. Do you know what it is? It's a 47-year-old virgin sitting around in his beige pajamas, drinking a banana-broccoli shake, singing "I'm an Oscar Meyer Wiener".
