In order to take the piss!! (properly), i think the intellectual and sensible participants, such as myself may need to know what:
asinine
means.

When all is said and done it comes down to being responsible and making sure safety is foremost. Do what you please and have fun, but be sure no ones safety and well being is at stake.
Agree or not, people do what they want. If at any point something happens then they will surely pay the price. But to think the entire hobby will suffer is a bit narrow minded. Most people are inteligent enough to know there are stupid people everywhere who do stupid things.
And, if I recall, there is a video on RR tv that shows a heli and foamies being shot down by a bb gun. And it was at an event by Align. Didn't hear any objections about that.

Go watch it.

first of all the batteries are hazardous waiste to be depossed of properly. Second there is a program for old phones to be donated to victims of domestic violence for calling for help. my point is there are usually better things to do with your stuff than distroy it. it just takes a little effort to do.
Oh my god...

Did I write I shot the battery? No, I collected it, put in our electronic waste disposal bag which all of us here in sweden has.

Why do you think I destroyed it? Did it work? Had it just crashed?

Get real.

Gee, I guess all of us in the US are irresponsible according to Thor. Why the comment Thor? Be Careful!!!!

And for the record, I do not agree with the destruction of heli's and I feel it is foolish.

I think this is a mostly free country and if you want to shoot down one of your heli's go for it.. who are we to sit in judgment of what someone else want to do. it their money spent to do it.. what i don't like is all the bleeding hearts out there worrying about what someone else is doing.. I love blood sports and even eat red meat, drive a BIG 4X4 truck. and like shooting machine guns. as long as they are not breaking the law (even some of the stupid laws on the books.) its their business. if you don't want to do it, then don't I've seen on American chopper (cable TV) where they went to some country and spent the day trying to shoot down a RC plane. it was great wish I could of done it.. can we have some type of raffle on who gets first shot.

glad deer season starts Sunday I cant wait to shoot Bambi.

It is not your place to decide what he should do with his heli, his ammo, his money, or his time.
you are correct sir,,but when someone askes my HO it intitles me to reply with my opinion
stripping away the rights of individuals is one topic that remains sqaurly in their crosshairs
again I never once have I said said he did'nt have the RIGHT to do it
To say that it would be okay to do this with a heli that is "barely flyable" as opposed to "perfectly good", as you put it, takes focus from safety
we are talking a 50 caliber rifle and explosives, there are less dangerous ways to blow your heli up if you want to do this. I really don't care HOW he dose just so he dose it SAFELY.

My opinion has ALWAYS been he should sell it to his "friend for 700 bucks"
the other argumnets are just bantering about differences in what/how to do it mainly because he became abusive and rude to anyone that did'nt like his idea. Not a person I see being responsable with a firearm or explosives,,,potential for disaster very high.
I strongly suggest that if you must keep beating this dead horse
I have neveer posted anythng but responses to other peoples questions about this,,,I'm not doing the beating,,,,
MrMel ,,,calm down, I used your example cuz there are better things to do than dystroy things when your done. I assumed your phone was a working phone since you did'nt say it was'nt,,,and you did not say what you did with the battery,,,my bad. But your make your own choices and that's OK,,,,just stated an alternative, never said you were bad or wrong for doing what you did.

QUICK! ,,,can someone turn the gravity off for just a second,,,,

I never said he should not be allowed to do it. Thank God we live in a free country that he is allowed to do it. I just think it is stupid. But then again. I think the "Jackass" show and movies are the some of the worthless pieces of crap there are. Anyone can staple their balls to their legs. The question is why would I want to? Anyone could shoot a RC heli down. But why? Where is the skill? Other than being a decent shot?

Honestly, I couldn't care less. It sounds like all safety precautions are being taken, so have fun. What difference does it make if he drives it into the ground flying it or shoots it. Either way, these are toys to play with and do what we want to.

What gets me is the fact of getting a GUN in the first place! As I recall from the original thread, there was a choice, I seem to remember a 50 calibre was mentioned.

Now I know here in the UK we have some gun issues, but if the average US of A citizen can get hold of such a weapon what hope is left?

I think it's the other way 'round. Your "gun issues" are a sign of personal freedoms being taken away from the citicens for "their own protection" (to keep you "controllable"). Personal freedoms is the hall mark of the US. They are slowly being erroded also but still out run the rest of the world.

Some people like telling others what they can and can't do.
Some people don't like being told what not to do, even though no harm is done.
Some people don't mind being controlled, others do.

It seems the only objections here are from those who like to impose their will on others, safety not being an issue.

Nightstalker.

Lol, not sure how to break this to you, are you sitting down?

Aston Martin actually GAVE them 3 just to smash up. So they had 3 attempts at getting it just right.
