I had that happen. I had it on too tight.

Run them loose

And lube them up once in a while with silicon spray or lithium grease.

Helps to make them last a bit longer. Any black marks on the idler pulley in the tail case? if so, belt was too tight, and it may have shredded

Had it happen a few weeks ago when inverted. Hit hold and landed on the rotor head. Was running it loose, but I guess it was the belt's time to go. It can happen, so be ready for it..

This has been posted elsewhere but here it is.

T-HT1003 Tech High Performance Drive Belt (For 347mm Boom)

http://www.techmodelproducts.com/trex_450_parts.php 3/4s of the way down the page.

I use these belts now. They work great. Stronger and more flexible. They are not plastic stiff like the stockers. I run'em loose, with decent presure I can make one side touch the other. You don't have to lube these either. I started looking for a improved belt after I had one snap on me during a sideways loop.

I really wish Align would just use these. They are made by Gates. Align could buy them in bulk. In the meanwhile, Techmodelproducts has them in stock. Kudos to them for finding these.

My belt broke last week during a high speed pass, the heli spun into a tree. I like to run mine on the loose side. Anyway, it looked like the belt rode up on the raised side of the tail pulley and jammed in the housing and snapped, there was some rubber melt residue in the case corner too. I made a post and got lots of replies, this has happened to a lot of us. One response said an Align rep told him to remove the little idler wheel from the tailcase. I am awaiting parts from http://www.heliproz.com they sell an aftermarket Maverik belt #881003 for the 450 that looks just like a Rapror belt (orange color). Chris at Heliproz said guys are having no trouble with this belt. Lets hope not. Eric

3d flip, it's MXL 397.

I casually looked for a supplier, no luck over here. I'm sure it can be had though. I don't mind sending coin to tech mp however, they have great service. OTOH, being on the other side of the pond, I think it'd be worthwhile for you to source the belt locally.
