I'm for Futaba that's the difference!
Ringo Ranger - how dare u say that Futaba is a better radio
Where do you think you are? a WHATS BEST JR OR FUTABA forum??
Oh wait, this is a WHATS BEST JR OR FUTABA FORUM.
Ahhh, so heli pilots who also fly planes aren't serious about it. Sounds like you're justifying your limited, antiquated radio system by insulting those whose equipment is superior to your own.
YEP, I NOTICED THAT THE SUPERIOR 14MZ MAKES EVERYONE ON THE FIELDS INSTANT BETTER FLIERS AFTER RIGHT AFTER THEY PURCHASED IT.

The numbers don't lie and they have no opinion. The answer to the original question 'What's Best' is that the Airtronics Stylus and the Futaba 12z /14mz presently hold the top honors in RC transmitter performance. The only other contender currently on the horizon is the Spektrum DX7.

My choice...
has been the JR radio's since the Century 7 radios came out. It's just a loyalty thing on my part. However I'm using mostly Futaba servos. They just have a better selection to choose from IMO.

Later...

Gimbal -in response to your earlier post about midi, it takes a little under 1ms to transmit a midi note on message. Sound travels about 1 foot per millisecond and the ears can resolve not much less than 5ms. Not really that bigger deal then.

dont ya just luv the hobbie!!!!!!!
so much to choose from,so many good arguments! lets face it ,it's all man jewllery. i just hope everone is happy with what they have chosen already or what they have been advised to fly with.
shortly after i started to learn to fly i realised my entry level transmitter was not going to be enough! so i upgraded to a pcm9 the other fliers in my club said i would never use all of the features and it was a waste of money!
Only resently i needed to uprade again to a pcm9x2 becouse the original did not have enough mixes for some of my models!
we all aspire to own the best we can afford, we all deside what is best (to a degree) by what the pro's are flying. If all the pro's used spectrums i'm sure you would see alot more in clubs around the world.the same if the pro's didn't fly with futaba or jr you probably wouldn't see so many about!
Aslong as you are happy with your choice, that means, its the best radio!i'm sure if or when they start giving away free spetrum radios ect. to the pro's we will see alot more around.
i'm also sure that when JR respond to 14mz all you futaba fliers will be eating humble pie!!!!!!!!! lol

This is the reason why people don't like to start "this is better than this and why" threads. The resonses may start out civil, but they usually spiral down into overzealous mud-slinging.

Buy whatever you want. They all have their good and bad points. If one was *truly* the "uber-gadget", no one would have to buy (or manufacture) anything else. What you like/prefer is not necessarily what someone else likes. We are all individuals. I personally use a Futaba since it's 1. cheaper 2. has the functions I need 3. used by most people I know 4. has a wider range of compatible receivers and 5. suits *me*.

In my area almost all guys use the high end JR's with a few Futaba's mixed in. So with that in mind I should have gone with either a JR or Futaba. At the time[4 years ago] of all the radios available in my price range there was one that really stuck out at the time as the best bang for the buck ,so I bought it. It's an Airtronics RD8000!
8 channel FM/PCM and can run any JR or Futaba/Hitek FM RX's at the flip of a switch.I run 4 heli's + planks on it and has been great with no problems. I'm not saying it's the best or ever was ,it doesn't matter,, it works great. It has been very reliable with never a problem and has everything I need at a very good price[under 300 bucks!}. I would consider any brand radio as all company's are good. I bet the high end HiTek is good too. Based on what I have read the only radio I would not buy would be the Futaba 9C. If I used one I may not even notice the problem of being slow but if other radios are alot faster with the same price with the features I need,I would go with that.

Setup is everything, All my heli's can fly far better than I can pilot them
