best flying heli for the money and no one talks about it...
ok so century / heli-world sort of stink for parts but we have more options now. TH for example

eyeflyhelis...
I've considered it before, but I figure I'll just get a Falcon/Raven if I want to go to that much trouble, but I agree it should be a great flying heli if the stock parts will hold up to the 50.

Don't do it! I've done it twice and then when I take it to the flying field and fly it, someone comes over and buys it!

parts seem to hold up- honestly its all most all the same parts as a falcon ans a lot in common with a raven.

just sold my x-cell 46 so while im waiting on my new raptor i figured i would create a frankenstien monster heli to fly. it flies great and i have run 580mm blade even with the short tail.

as for a falcon it cost a lot more and to conver a hawk to a falcon is about 1/2 the price- done that before also.
but upgrading a hawk or flying a falcon-didnt see any real differences except the mains were different sizes.

everything else is the same (i converted my spindles to raptor spindles long ago)

only you have the power to make no difference!

Oh no, there are tons of differences between the Hawk and the Falcon. The falcon has a composite/aluminum rotor head hub, Predator style flybar cage, 4mm flybar, thrust bearings in the rotor head, 6mm feathering shaft, comes standard with the driven tail rotor, larger landing gear set, Predator swash and flybar paddles, stainless steel torque tube, the same tripple ball bearing tail rotor system as the Predator, and probably a few others that I did not think of.

How'd you do that? Aren't the two spindles of different length? I'm using the Century 6mm upgrade spindles from the Hawk/Falcon/Raven on my Hawk Sport. What's the advantage of doing this?

raptor has a much better bearing system
just switch it over and you may need to add a washer between the grips and the head. i still used the hawk grips. i was planning to use the century upgrade also but i needed it when they had no parts to send out so i improvised and im much happier.
i'll try and get some pics of it today to send you.

steve for the cost the comparison is not worth the upgrade (to me) the new sport is still less money and a better heli than the falcon (again to me)
mine is the port so less upgrades (except what i've done)
but the changes are really minimal.
pretty much the same frames (a few different holes)
comparing the 2 side by side i think its barley better (my opinion)
so i would rather mod things i'd like to see better on a hawk
but yes there may be a few more differences but i think the hawk is a better heli overall (my opinion)

only you have the power to make no difference!

Don't get me wrong...the Hawk, especially the Pro version, is a great little heli, but either the Falcon or the Raven are much better helis, and they are 50 size already. There is really no comparison, but you must fly one of the 50's for a while to understand.

my true 50's are a raptor 50 v2's.
i had a falcon and and raptor at the same time and felt that it flew much better. but i like the hawk better that the falcon also. my falcon had a 0s 46 so maybe that why but i had 2 xcell 46's that were awesome - just sold one to get another raptor 50.
i think its just me maybe i didnt give the falcon a fair chance only had between 5-10 days of flying it (maybe 3-5 tanks each day)
i set up all my helis identical so it just wasn't right for me. it doesn't mean that its wrong for someone elses flying style- just didnt seem to work well with mine.
to tell you the truth i have a t-rex se and a mx400
t-rex is awesome but for some reason i fly the mx better??????
same set ups and the mx not nearly as tricked as my t. i can loop roll and do more inverted with the mx. but again i think its just me cuz the heli is awsome.
maybe ccpm vs not ccpm- not sure

only you have the power to make no difference!
