I currently own a TP 1010/210 combo and was looking for a second cheap charger. Can I use the 109 at 2C?

Also, what balancer would be best to use with the 109?

Thanks for your help.

Yes but you need a V-balancer to be safe.

You can place this balancer in between the charger and the pack, it will stop the charging if the pack goes out of balance to much.

You can buy one from duralite.

Cheers,

Richard

Thanks Richard.

Would using a TP210 with the 109 suffice? It seems more or less the same price as the V-Balancer so I would rather get one of those.

Although I don't think it can communicate with the charger... can it?

Although there are certain batteries/ chargers that do the 2C charge i wouldn't personally choose to do it, Lipos don't have that many cycles in them to start, by charging at 2C that is going to drastically reduce for the sake of 1/2 an hour on the charger!!

Quotes may have been changed for my own amusement

You can use one, but it doesn't communicate with the charger so charging over 1C could be dangerous.

I would look for a cheap TP1010/210 combo, I got mine for $260.

at b-p-p.com.

I found it cheaper somewhere else, emailed Troy and he gave me that price minus 5%.

How about this Astroflight "Blinky" balancer?

It will discharge any battery that has a higher voltage than the other while the charging is happening (as I understood it).

The blinky ballancer will not keep up with anything over a 1C charge. It just doesnt have the "load" to bleed off the higher cells. I have one that I use at home when I charge at very slow rates and it does great. But at the field when I want to charge fast, I use a TP1010/210 combo.
