Hi all, need some direction on servo choice for this large Bell47G (1/6th)heli.
Have been told 11kg digital servos for head, 9253 on tail with a gy401 gyro. Any idea of the product number for Futaba for the head and throttle. Will a Futaba 6ch PCM reciever be suitable and on board battery size?

Your help appreciated.

Cheers
Andy

Put the 9253 on the throttle, & use an Hitec HS6965 on the tail. The 9253 is too weak for the tail on a large machine like that. To power it up I would use an 1800 sub "C" nicad backup with a Raja's "Jewel" generator to produce inflight power. Get a used FUTABA 9C TX they sell here for reasonable prices, forget the 6 channel.

I fly with a friend had one of those early models of the Hirobo Bell 47's. He used a 401/9253 on the tail with Futaba 9202's on the head and throttle. It flew fine. As it is not a very aerobatic Heli the 9253/401 handled everything fine as did the 9202's. He used a 4 cell 1800 4.8V Nicad pack.

Hi guys,

also got a nice idea concerning servo for tail rotor. My 47 (10kg, 650g main rotor with alu-blades) also needs a strong but fast servo on the tail.
I took a ThunderTiger DS1213 for the tail rotor and I'm deeply impressed by the result! My bell is very calm to handle now, first time since I took the alu-blades which are 310g/blade (gfk:240g). The DS1213 is an excellent servo which is not too expensive when comparing with futaba (took 9202 for the rest)
Got my vid in here: http://www.runryder.com/helicopter/t295523p1/ but when I made it, there were still some bugs to fix, so it flies even better now
J.

PS:
1) still a bit difficult sometimes to explain on english, hope You don't mind.

2)
As it is not a very aerobatic Heli the 9253/401 handled everything fine as
Well, I tried and it ended up with a 47 spinning faster and faster..., was my first autorotation then! So don't try the 9253 with a large heli! As long as it works, it works fine but as it has to get along with the torque of a large(and heavy!?) rotor, it's perhaps not the servo to get old with the 47.
