I have one. It is a Walkera #36. The radio on was intermittent. The stock motor would fly it fine but not much in the way of reserve power. Stock gyro works well.

Now upgraded to a brushless (Shogun) motor and all servos have been replaced except for collective (it will be next). Stock radio has been replaced by a Spectrum DX-6.

This machine is not a hot-rod, but is very easy to fly and very easy to see, due to its flourescent yellow color. Rate of roll, even with maximum throw, is extremely slow.

A pleasant, relaxing machine to fly, which would definitely benefit from improved electronics.

Thanks RAK!!!

I was looking for something for my son and I to fly that won't cost a fortune, yet be fun to fly. Once I get it I will take a ride over to the LHS and see about upgrades before I even take off.

frischi,

I would plan on replacing the radio, including servos and esc (go for the brushless) immediately. If the stock radio works, just consider it a bonus. The gyro works surprisingly well. The Shogun brushless fits perfectly and provide lots of power.

I am running 3S 2100 mah lipos and getting about 10 minute flight times.

I think the Raptors are still going for about $185.00 from Raidentech.
