I think what you are referring to is the common species of animal called a raptor 50

The real question is "Why?" If you wanted a Nitro, you'd get a Raptor or other 50 sized heli.

We haven't seen Colonel Angus around these parts for years!

Wow! The Raptor has nothing to do with the T-Rex. Different frames, head, tail and CCPM control.

I guess you have never seen a T-Rex or a Raptor up close...

It's easy to find an excuse to do wrong. Hard is not to find an excuse to do right.

My question is why not?? Raptor design is eons old although it works, align parts are cheap and it looks like a light airframe.

I was thinking of putting a turbine in a 600,

Reckon that would be cheaper than the batteries.

I thought Align originally was going to have an option for nitro or electric. What happened to that?

I was at the Blacksheep flyin back at the end of summer and was told by one of the factory pilots that Align was planning to release a nitro version of the 600.

I would think such a conversion would be cost prohibitive, at least for me, once the final tally came in. Would be nice if Align offered that option though. They probably don't see a market for it.

even not doing anything would have been better than nothing...

You may laugh when turbines get down to the size of coke cans and aren't prohibitively expensive it'll be the way to go!!

WOW this is really a goofy thread. It seams like everyone is dumping all their nitro engines and converting everything to EP.

I agree – if you want to fly nitro get a Raptor – LOL!

Why would anyone!
I honestly Hate the tail drive gear myself. Seams way more reliable having the belt wrap the Maingear. If I ever went to nitro I would never consider Align for this reason.
Modifying an e-model to Nitro is brag'n rights for sure!!
Just don't think Align would be a good subject!

and one more thing "DON'T BE AFRAID!"

Why would anyone?

In much the same way as those that converted nitro raptors to EP!

I just looked at the airframe and thought the newer design, eCCPM, parts cost, etc why not....

I hate electric power and want nitro and no other 50 size takes my fancy at the moment, had raptors want a change.
