I'm doing a teardown/inspection/rebuild/upgrade of my Sceadu Evo 50. I've heard that the machined gears are quieter and stronger than the standard plastic gears. Looking at replacement parts has me confused.

On Rick's site I found:

pt# 0412-168 DTDS constant drive tail set $89.99
pt# 0412-169 machined main gear
pt# 0412-170 machined 2nd gear (together about $57).

The pictures look the same, except the "set" has a metal hub. What parts do I need to make this conversion? My guess is the set and the other two pt numbers are replacements for the gears in the set. Am I correct in this assumption?

I'm also going to go with the metal wash out set (sliding & radius block), metal swash and 3rd bearing for the tail rotor shaft. any thing else I should consider? When rebuilt, my Evo will become a Hughs 500D.

You´re right, the #0412-168 is the complete kit, with both gears and aluhub (gearholder), and the other 2 is replacement gears.

'Hm now I just have to find out where to connect the GV1 sensor to the Jazz80 ESC.

you really do not need the machined lower gear (and the required
aluminum gear holder). What you DO want is the smaller 17T EX CounterGear (which is machined), 414169

I was looking at gear too. What is gained by using it? Dose it incease tail rotor speed and hence tail authority?

It makes the tail drivetrain smoother, and reduces some of gear noise.

that black gear (the stock countergear) DOES wear out, esp if flying
hard. It's one of the few, in my book, highly recommended upgrades.
