I have taken a brake from the Heli Hobbie for about 4 yrs now, I was close to Bankrupt because I was trying to learn with out the aid of a Sim. So I have been using a Sim, and my Shuttle is a bit old, but I'm ready to get back to it...... I think one of my main problems is my Gyro.. I'm at work right now, so I'm not sure what it is, but it's got to go! It's the old mechanical style that you can hear spooling up. I have a JR 8103 Radio, and was looking for a good head locking Gyro to go with it. the one I have has a mind of it's own! ....Also what are the new Governors about? any help for us new guys?

I also had a thought about getting a TRex, because it just seams like less to lug around, and if I wanted to fly on my lunch brake I could? are they to twichy for a beginner? I can hover my shuttle, and do a very small amount of forward flight, but am very rusty?

Thank You in advance!

Brian

Yes, for sure get rid of that gyro. Futaba 401 with a fast servo or the JR500T would be good. In truth anything but what you got. Heck i've got a Vigor with a JR pizeo gyro that i fly the crap out of all the time.

Heli has been sitting for a while? Replace the battey ASAP.

T-Rex flies very well, not twitchy like the micro machines.

I was just looking at the Raptor G2 Model.... it's very cheap, and I know you tend to get what you pay for... some love it, others seam to never get it off the ground? I like the price, but only if it will fly...

I had planed on switching the Bat. out on Friday prior to starting it up, I lost my last Shuttle that way! well one of the times that is! .... I'm wondering if all of my programing in my radio is gone?? I have not charged the radio in several years? Will I need to re-setup the Heli? This is something I have never done, I aways got some one to do it for me? How does this radio store the info? Thanks!

As for where I have been~~~ Well I have several hobbies, and I had started a business out of state so I had little time to play with the Heli... I'm back now, and trying to catch up.

Bigger machine = more stability = easier learning curve = less cash!!!
I was going to start on a Rex but with the advice of those on here and some local fliers I went with the Raptor Titan.
Great machine to learn with and will outfly my abilities for years to come.

Welcome back

I had an old Shuttle, same deal. Flew it a couple of times, then bought a T-Rex, and now I don't want to mess with nitro. If your radio saves in flash memory, the settings are still there.

I would at the very least cycle your Tx and Rx batteries to see if they are OK. They might be, it just depends. Much safer to replace them both.

Change your fuel lines, all of them, including the clunk line.

Have fun

I think i will be much happier at this point with an elect. model, I like the Shuttle, but the box full of stuff to go flying is a bit much at times, I'm looking over some reviews of this Raptor G2 ak Walkera 36~ it has it's lack of flair, and quality, but it's not like I'm in need of a 3D monster at this point, just a cheep Heli that wont brake the bank when I wipe it out! I'm thinking the cost of this Raptor G2 is close to what I will have in the Shuttle by the time I put a new bat. Fuel, Glow starter, fuel lines, and Gyro in it, I might have been able to just go fling with this cheep Elect. model, and get a 450 SE later?
