All sims can be a "game". It depends how you use it.
I started with FMS, but ended up getting a more realistic sim once I wanted to do more than the basics on the computer.

My most preductive regime was on the heli field with the square paved area which had connected markers in each corner and the center. It's great for trying to move along the edges in a controlled square pattern. First forward, then backward, then inverted forward and backward. If you're really good you can piroette around the pattern.
Boring? Maybe, but important skills nontheless.

FMS will take you along ways but is no where close to the quality that XTR will give you.

The higher end sinmulators will let you change all the parameters.

They can be get pricey but well worth it.

I found FMS not very realistic when flying the Heli's. I have used G2 and G3 and they are way better in the way they feel. Do yourself a favor and get a better sim. G2's are pretty cheap now and pretty good sim.

i used FMS to get orientations done, like tail-in, left side-in, nose-in, right side-in, inverted, etc

but as for flying around, it is very much a game in that sense.

i can only give advice on Reflex XTR as its the only one i have used, and the bad points are that theres no manual to help you set it up to your Tx, and you have to figure out what parameteres are what (still figuring most out).

and the good point is that (only from what i have read on the forums), it is the most realistic against the others.
