I sold my 450se, got tired of crashing and repairing. I don't have that problem with the larger 600.
Why no crashing with the 600? Does it say so on the box? If so, I'm buying one tomorrow!

I think the generator is still the way to go .. I have a 365amp small engine battery for charging my 2100's for my 450SE ... I tried to charge the 5000mah 6S for the 600 .. it ran out of power before the charger finished ... It really sucked. Our parking isn't close enough to the pits ... I don't want to leave my pack unattended. I would rather have a generator right next to my table.

So for a 600 I need 6 batteries at $300 each. That's about $1800 give or take. Then I need to drag a noisy generator to the field to charge them. Oh, and I'm going to need fuel to put in the generator to charge the batteries to run the heli.

Hey, why not just get a nitro bird and put fuel directly in the heli and avoid the middle man???

Muahahahahahahahahaha Just kidding!

well it really sucks having to buy so many things just so we can charge our batteris but if thats the way is got to be than i guess ill be buying one as soon as i get a chance,i hope to find one for no more than $100 or ill end up buying another 2 or 3 batteries instead

but seems like the generator is the way to go,well lucky for me i belong to a club where i park the car right in front of the pits
so charging isnt a problem,but you do have to have the engine running while charging

I've got:

4 = Schulze 636
2 = Thunder Power 1010C
4 = Orbit Microloader

I hate waiting, charging one pack at a time
So which is your favorite and why?

The small Honda generators are very quiet. If you bring a 50 foot extension cable and have the generator on the other side of your car, you will probably not hear it at all.

On the plus side, they are handy things to have around. My wife is glad we have one, good peace of mind in a power outage. They do like to be exercised, so taking it to the field is a great excuse

I don't do much with the 4400s except some loops and rolls and practicing autos.

emoil batteries
has anyone tried one of these batteries on the 600?
i see people selling the 8 cell emoils for around 85 bucks and the seller claims the 3300 8 cell e-moils will fly the 600 for about 7 mins, any thought?

That is a very nice generator if you are at your house and you want it quiet... but it is very expensive. With all the loud gasoline planes at my field .. I'm not worried about how loud it is. Harbor Freight has one that is 1000 watt for 299.99 and one on sale now that is 2400 watt for 267.99. Only problem is the 2400 is more size to lug around. I'll keep my eyes open for something cheaper. If I'm just going to the field for the day .. I can see having 6 packs .. but if I go out of town for a fun fly, I have to charge all those packs before the next day and I don't want to buy more chargers and balancers. I would rather recharge after they cool and have them ready for the next day.

Honda also has a 1000 watt for around $650 I think.

The nice part about these Hondas is they have an inverter and put out very clean power. The inexpensive ones from HF, well, search around for the guys who put them on a scope and posted the charts. They are fine for general use, but for running computers or other sensitive equipment, be careful.

hi
I have six 2100mah batteries for my Trex 450SE
Also have four 900 mah's for my Blade BCP

Hopefully I will have 6 packs for my Trex 600 when I receive it.. That seems to be a good number.

Crash-Prone and overcoming it!!!

I have 4 for my SE. Taking a few minutes between flights, I have the first one recharged during the 4th flight. So I can have 5 flights without waiting, but for that 6th flight, I have to wait for battery #2 to charge. I might pick up a 5th battery, but really, it seems to me the answer is a second charger.

Honestly though, for me right now 5 flights is about all I can handle. Sometimes I stop after 3, it all depends on how I am feeling that day.

They sell that generator at my local Northern Tools. The salesman told me in hushed tones that he was embarrassed it was even on the the shelf.

Good to hear smartguy. I was advised the 12v output is for direct charging of batteries only (car batteries), that it is not suited for 12v devices, motors, etc. It is working for you though, and that is worth more than any 'advice.'
