For me its the time where all the problems and daily routines are left behind and replaced with joy and anticipations for the flight to come - kind of a spiritual moment
Don't get me wrong my friend but I don't even get that feeling while sitting back in my couch to watch a nice movie.

I have been flying helis since 2002. And everytime I fly, I pray that she comes back in one piece. I sometimes want to fill the tank half way so the flight ends sooner

I feel a strange calm while spooling up. Then after a few crazy moves the adrenaline starts to kick in and it's all shaky from that point on What a rush

Pre flight check;

Cyclic operates in correct sense, tail works in correct sense.
Flip into idle 2 check negative.. go fly.

Thats the only thing going through my head during spool up.

Quotes may have been changed for my own amusement

As I'm spooling up I get tinglings of excitement as I'm never quite sure what kind of takoff it's gonna be until the very last millisecond; piro powerup, flipping launch, tailstand launch or whatever.

Depends on what heli:

Comet 500... hope the tail blade bolts hold, i think I'll take a few steps back and turn the tail slightly away from me.

Raptor 50... hope the engine doesn't cut-out, I'd hate to walk back to the pit to restart... and oh yeah, i think I'll take a few steps back and turn the tail slightly away from me.

GWS Mini Dragonfly (brushless/all separates)... DANG POS!!! Why won't you FLY!!!

If my buddy is flying with me and the heli gods are looking to fill their monthly quota:

"Please don't pick me, please don't pick me, please don't pick me"

By my self:

"Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh..."

You know that thing that happens towards the end of the session and time is knocking on and you think "better get me last flight before it's too late, oh bollocks I mean another flight. Crap, the gods will have heard my thoughts". Proceed with caution !!!!!!

Yugi,

I have crashed way too many planes, helis, etc. when I say "One more flight". When I even think those words I pack up and go home. If I think it during a flight I land, pack up and go home. This behaviour has never failed me yet. (I might hang out a the field for a bit more and fly a foamie, but no big bird.)

During spool up I think 10,000 parts trying to crash and I put them together (Umm did I really build this thing, better stand back a bit farther something is going to fall off), here we go again, and as the head gets up to speed, I am counting the cost of the crash, higher head speed more $$$$. After I get it off the ground, everything worry is gone. Poof -- go fly have fun.

Land and start over.

YUP... NEVER say "ONE MORE FLIGHT!" and NEVER FLY again after you've started to PACK UP.
