I bought a used rebuilt Hyper 50. Of course it didn't run well when I first started it. I figured he only changed the ring. I changed the bearings, and pistion (long story), and I bought a seal kit for it as well. When I got the seal kit there was a metal gold colored ring for the head (I figured this out by looking at a manual online).

So since the rebuilt motor I bought didn't have one, I wondered if there was a reason folks might have taken the gold ring out of the head? (ie compression gain).

Thoughts? Thank you.

The only thing taking the shim out does is usually make it leak, you can raise the compression that way but most people add an extra shim to lower the compression ratio to run higher nitro fuels but mine runs fine with the stock shim and 30 percent, so definately put the shim back in there.
