I had to do my first auto the other day when my engine cut off at about 50' up. I forgot to hit throttle hold so I didn't get in enough negative before the landing. It hit the ground hard enough to bend my spindle and break the landing skids. The main shaft was fine but when I repaired it I noticed the one way bearing used for starting the engine was worn out. I wanted to get it in the air that weekend so I decided to weld the starting shaft to the insert that engages the clutch bell. Everthing seemed fine untill take off. I tracked the blades but wehen it got in the air it would violently go up and down like a yo yo. Could this be due to my receiver battery being too low? I checked it at around 5.2 volts before takeoff( its a 4.8v pack ? I can't see how my weld would cause this problem. It is welded on straight and the clutch bell turns freely when not engaged. Any ideas?
