I have two different Garmins and a Pharos. They all sit in the closet doing nothing. Our three cars have a Magellan 360, 700, and 800. We'll soon replace the 700 with an 860. Nice units, very easy to use and very reliable.

I've been using Garmin products for seven years now in cars, boats, planes and RC. Never had a problem with any of 'em, and firmware/feature updates are a breeze from their website. The heaviest of their handheld units weigh less than 6 oz and work great strapped to a heli or a plank for speed tests.

i baught a Garmin Vista from Gimbalfan a while back, and i absolutly love the thing. it has yet to give me any trouble at any level. and as he mentioned, its small enough to go on your heli for speed runs i already did it with my Vigor.

one of my buddies "Carlyle" uses a TomTom for his job. i think its a really nice unit actually. but for vehicles only though (although it has a built in battery and you can wander with it). i wouldn't use it for hiking or anything. but instead as an alternative to On-Star, where you pay a furtune to use a service that the TomTom gives for free.
