While installing the os91 for my R90SE, I discovered some differences between the OS91 and OS50 engines. Appreciate if someone could confirm the following for me.

1) There is no shim between the clutch shoe and metal fan.
2) The washer between fan and engine is needed.
3) There is no washer between the c-clip and clutch bell bearing.

Thanks.

All depends which fan and clutch you're using on both engines.
The point of the shim between the clutch and fan is to allow free movement of the shoes without snagging the fan mounting to which the clutch mounts onto. TT fans don't have material machined away, so you need the shim. QUK fans have some material machined away so you don't need the shim.
Again you may or may not need the washer depending on which fan you use. The point is that the top of the clutch must clear the inside top of the bell by 1mm or so. A washer can cause the clutch to be pushed right up causing the whole thing to lock up.
A washer between the c clip and bell is necessary so as to prevent fouling the c clip.

Hi Bo105

1) There is no shim between the clutch shoe and metal fan?
not on the 90 series.
2) The washer between fan and engine is needed?
not needed otherwise the clutch would touch the top of the bell.
3) There is no washer between the c-clip and clutch bell bearing?
this is the way the manual has it set up and I have never had a problem with it in the 4 years that I've had my machines.

Thanks for your replies.

Hi Saul,
Thanks for confirming. But Yug has a point about the shoe snagging on the fan. I'm using the stock metal fan and clutch bell that comes with the stock R90SE. Seems like it's a potential issue but I'll give it a go first.

I wonder why TT has double standards on the R50 and R90.
