but I think we should have an auto contest for Novice pilots as well. Because we know, if they come who will win the real auto contest.
You talking about me?

Auto Contest for Novices is a great idea.

Here are my ideas:

Heli Soccer - push a ball through a goal, the most goals in a two minute periods is a winner.

Heli Bowling - 20 quart oil bottles filled with varied amounts of sand. each is worth on point, and the pilot who knocks the most over in a minute is the winner.

Musical Chairs - 4 boxes (painted in the grass) you start in the center, and have one minute to either go clockwise or counter clockwise and land (fully) in each box.

Inverted Auto Contest

Micro Contest
Hula-Hoops on top of wooden posts at different levels. the pilot that can navigate the course the most times in a two minute period wins.

Pylon Race

From a stop, the pilot that can fly around the pylon the most times wins. but the catch is that you have to stop at the starting position each lap, and fully land before you can complete your next lap.

These are just a few ideas.

i can set all of them up if others are interested? No real prizes will be given, but i can whip up some certificates for bragging rights

Do you have to land on the skids for the inverted auto contest? If not, put me on the list!

Some great ideas there! I had thought about musical chairs but I know that they have it with the airplanes and there are some uhhmm, well wad ups, so to speak! Didn't think heli guys would want to risk their birds for that but if ya'll want to do it I'd love to watch! So far I thought we would for sure have an auto contest(thats a given), the novice/beginner auto contest is a great idea though! And no Big Mike, your not a novice! I also thought we'd have a drag race and I would love to see some free style type thing, you know, best flight or something along those lines. What do you think about a Limbo contest??lol. That would probably be to risky though, wad ups for sure.

I've checked the weather forecast for that day, it's still a little far of but so far we're looking at temps in the low 60's, partly cloudy with no rain in sight.

i should have said a musical chairs like event. to prevent any possible mishaps, it's done with only one heli at a time.

we could do the limbo with the height markers only (no bar). just have to gauge how low the person actually went?

"Fly 4 Small Fry's" is kind of catchy, i like it.

Some great Ideas there guys on competitions during the Event, I think its gonna be a Great time!!

As far as the Name, I think it already has one, The Blue Santa Fun Fly is already well know here in the Area."Blue Santa" is a organization that helps needy children. All the local Hobby shops know it as the "Helicopter Blue Santa Fun Fly and Fund Raiser". It might confuse people if the name got changed......just a thought.

looking forword to this, I hope everyone makes it out!!

I agree with Javier, on all points, especially the name. Blue Santa is very well recognized here.
Also I'm brining my photo equipment, and would like to get a group photo with all of the pilots, helis, and what toys are donated, and then send it to the local papers (that is if everyone is okay with that).
Hey that's great! I'm all for it, bring that gear and get some great photos! Good idea.

So, as far as events/contests go, as of right now we have:

Auto Contest
Best Flight/Free style(Either FAI or 3D style, to music would be best)
Drag Race

Possible games/contests:

Inverted Auto Contest(Oh boy, that'll be fun to watch!!)
Beginner Auto Contest
Musical Chairs
Heli-Bowling
Heli-Soccer
Pylon Race(This sounds like alot of fun!!)

Guys, all of the games/contests sound great, but I think you will find you have too many for a one day fun fly. Just my opinion.

The government cannot give you anything without first taking it from someone else.

Steve is probably right, thanks for the advice Steve. We'll have to narrow it down some. We know we must have an auto contest so that's a given. I would really like to see a freestyle/best flight thing, and the drag race, well we'll have to see how many people are up for that one. I tell ya, I think a Pylon Race would be super cool! Spectators would probably love to see that one as well. Go fast and turn left, shoot even I can do that. Hmm, maybe drop the drag race in favor of the pylon race??

Also, I wanted to let you guys know that Mr. John Beech from Genesis Hobby Distributor has just thrown a nice brand new ProMuffler 50 into the mix! Thanks John!!!

I apologize in advance for the shameless plug...

I have a really nice machine for sale

RR Ad Here

If anyone who will be attending the fun fly is interested, please PM me and I can deliver it in person at the event. I don't have it advertised, but I also have a complete torque tube set up (enough to make about 3 sets) and a TON of spare parts for the X-Spec/Evo 90.

Okay, shameless plug over.

Thanks!

Can't wait to hit those nice, smooth Texas roads again! Does anyone know if it is still a congested drive between Dallas and Austin? I am coming down on Fri afternoon (I know, not the best time), but I would like to know what I am in for

hmmm, and something about bring my checkbook with me...

Actually, I have way too many heli's that are WAITING to go fly... just a matter of which ones will make the trip.

MAYBE the Turbine Huey...
" " 520 NOTAR
" " Augusta 109 Mako
" " Long Ranger
" " Hawk Pro (probable)
" " Raven 50 (VERY probable)
" " Predator Gasser
" " Predator Freestyle (almost a sure bet)
" " Raptor 50 or two to sell (RTF)

Uh, maybe you see the problem now.... sucks, huh !
