Off topic - washing machines!
You just lost your man card lol !!!

Just get the one with the most flashing lights and gadgets attached.

Either that or spend the 1500 on a new heli and go buy her a washing board. You'll get your man card back that way but possibly lose the house and half of everything else you own

Looks like things are going to the dogs in Tokoroa, you can thank Bruce Simpson I expect for pissing off too many people and attracted too much attention to his antics and general smart ass attitude.
He blames the MFNZ for it but they only acted on his mad behaviour.

“RC flying at Tokoroa now forbidden by the SWDC

Just an update that those on the list need to be aware of:

For the benefit of anyone thinking of coming to Tokoroa to fly, please
be advised that by order of the South Waikato District Council, and in
response to the letter from MFNZ that they received, all model flying is
now forbidden at the airfield unless a NOTAM is in place for each day
that flying takes place (with the accompanying field-closure and NOTAM
fee (being $355 for Saturdays, Sundays or public holidays) being paid).

Bad publicity is not what we need in this hobby. We struggle to find/keep fields as it is. I think one of the Auckland clubs is having issues too from what I hear.

What actually happened? How come they didn't just take his license instead of banning the area?

Well that went well nzmaa and council can't decide who made first contact with whom, that's the problem when you get old you loose your marbles. Typical nzmaa opting to back out of an interview they might of got a question they can't answer like, can you provide dates, times and offences oh that right there aren't any that's why we have a perfect safety record.

KIM
Looks like I might be coming to fly with you and Bruce

What pisses me of is the short sightedness of some people, let's not give them the benefit of the doubt and let them continue flying maybe with restricted flying times while we look into the allegation, we are in a controlled environment not doing anything dangerous unlike some people that buy from trade me and try to fly the model for the first time in a local park without insurance. Rotorua club had 7 members leave because of a similar attitude yet I've losed count how many planes landed in the pits, car park, trees even the BBQ area maybe I should go back and video some of the bad flying from the seniors and put it on YouTube. They are much more dangerous than any flying I have seen in 2 years at tokoroa.

Yes maybe Bruce should not have flown into the film prop left behind but really is this enough reason to close the club, I think not.

Nzmaa have been happy to take our money for years promote jet meetings and we have had heli comps etc. over the years yet all of a sudden the field is not a registered flying site ??? Funny tokoroa has had a club for about 20 years.

What mad behaviour do you think Bruce has be doing Kevin? Facts or are you going by the gossip that people 'have heard', all taken out of context ?

To be fair there has been nothing of significance going on there that warrants any attention, or at least in the many times I've been there flying.

The most of concerned I have witnessed was a recreational full size Cessna flier who did not radio in, did not perform the required circuit of inspection and made a low approach out of view and popped out over the trees on approach to landing..... all while an international jet meet was going on.

I know a certain club and person in Hamilton that arranged an event, hosted a night fly, flew above regulation height, all within a few kms of an international airport, in controlled airspace, without informing the control tower, or CAA ;-) That was very stupid, and someone got away with that.... only just.

Don't get me wrong, is was a spectacular night fly, but sometimes peoples smart arse attitudes need to give way to rules and regulations and ask permission.

Tokoroa is positively passive in comparison

North shore???
HI guys- G2 here.

North Shore having problems?? Nothing they haven't had before I think.

Things aren't helped by it not being a proper club (you know- incorporated not for profit like a certain club at Trentham) and not actually having a secured flying site- so the effective voice that the representatives have isn't that unified.

I do miss having a field that I didn't worry too much about getting the van stuck- but no place is perfect.

There is a great bunch of heli guys there- and if we have anything to say about it- peace will reign again, and hopefully in Spring when the place dries out we can all park and fly happily again.

However- I did see the John Campbell story tonight. And yes- the guy who did all of the talking came across as a wild and crazy guy- and he may just lose you guys that field. I'm a well known old fool- but about half of those vids that they have posted showed flying that is contrary to NZMAA rules. Unless they consider flight lines to be behind the pilot by several meters.
Like 'em or not- they are rules for just that reason. If you break them- maybe not a great idea to brag about it- and to post the vids.

What video was you watching George ? Don't know about you but I have not found anyone who can fly behind themselves ? So surely the flight line must be in front. I saw guys doing limbo in front, cutting toilet paper in front and flying into film prop, that was funny and that was a different flight line but still in front.

Why is he crazy for standing up for an injustice by a few for something he is passionate about. You have seen some of his vids you may not agree with all of them but he is promoting the sport more than anyone else has in NZ and in a good way.

What you don't know is about a guy called hank who is a full size flyer that hates models and has tried to purchase the airstrip just to get rid of the modellers, he started a fight a couple of weeks back with a modeller and we should have reported him to the police but did n't, he comes out on a Sunday morning and does touch and goes for at least an hour so we cannot fly. This guy has an agenda. It's not about modellers having fun and putting it on YouTube, that was not illegal last time I looked.

There s more to this than what you have seen on telly so please don't make your mind up and convict someone without all the info.
