I'd imagine that'd work for women as well, not just sheep..
yes if you can get the gag on jonny.....otherwise you would lose concentration listening to them bitch and moan.

Damn I never thought there would be this big a NZ RR crew. I moved here roughly two years ago and am looking to get back into the sport, I live in Auckland, and I would probably class myself as a beginner in the hobby.

was wondering if the locals don't mind helping me out on a few things:

Where do you buy your gear?
Do you buy overseas or is there a good market here?

Whats a good model to go for for a beginner? (SIM is already on the shopping list, actually next to get)

Any recommendations on clubs to join?

Thanks
Jack

pm footey and ask him. He's the most active here on RR and owns a shop. In Hamilton.
Plenty of help will come your way. Have you heard about the big Heli meet in drury on Waitangi weekend in Feburary. One you won't want to miss.

PM Jagnz for AKL help. He'll point you into the right direction and is on the heli sig.

Cheers

Jack - welcome to the addiction! I am Auckland based and am happy to help any way I can. Most of us buy in NZ now that there is good support here. It wasn't always this way, I can assure you!

I fly out at the North Shore MAC along with a few other prodigals that used to fly at Kumeu. I plan to fly quite a bit through the Holidays so flick me a PM and you can come have a look if you like.

Thanks for all the PM's and replies guys, again the Kiwi willingness to help astounds me.

@Helinutnz

speak of the devil, Footey has given me some very nice useful info to start me off and I intend to make use of it.

A big heli meet you say, in Drury you say!! any info for it or is this just a word of mouth event, would be very interest in going as its only like 45min away.

@JAGNZ

I was surprised at the availability here, its almost on pare with the UK as long as your not looking for something special. I'm very happy with the amount of Trex's coming into the country, allot of my UK mates have told me how much better the birds are over some of the other companies out there and its nice to know NZ is keeping with the times.

What sort of time during the year do you guys fly, I'm guessing mainly in summer due to the fact it rains allot in winter here. still getting used to dates though?

I'm going away for a couple of weeks abroad to visit some family but I will be back in the country early January, I'll send you a PM then Jag about maybe coming and watch you fly or meeting in person to talk. I used to live in North shore and currently am about 30min on a good day away from there so would love to pop down and see the field.

Footey mentioned that a new field was in the plans for around Manakau, anyone else heard about this, that would be friggin awesome as is very close to where I am now.

Again thanks for the quick replies and I'll see you all early next year, I gotta pack

I fly all year. About 2 to 6 flights every weekend and some
times during the week, but then i am only 8mins from the Hamilton
flying field.

LOL....

Hey I don't want to sound ungrateful or selfish but do I still need to register if I'm not flying?

I only want to go and watch the event, I mean I won't have a heli by the time the event starts and it would be nice to go but I would only be going to watch / see some pilots, get some tips etc.

I couldn't find any info on the site about guests coming to see the event and how much it costs.

I can't take Thursday off work so I would be only able to make the Friday and Saturday events.

Sorry for my pig headed-ness on the previous post, I didn't realize how much effort was being put into this event, I had a nice email from the organizer of the event, and even though I wont be able to make the Thursday screw it I'll register and come Friday and Saturday.

Got home with a Christmas bonus of $200 from the boss so I know where that's going now

That's a shame Robert, I was looking forward to catching up with you again! Isn't there someone that can loan you a Tx for the event? And it's in Feb which is a long way off and should be time to get it sorted! I would imagine Kevin may have a spare DX7 (Kevin?) he could loan you for the weekend.

Hi Robert,

Everytime I turn around I kick another transmitter, I am sure we can find something for you to use, I do have a spare DSX9 here that you could use, you break it you own it. And I sure as hell better not get thirsty during the Heli Rumble.

It will be worth the effort if you can make it up, it is going to be awesome. You remenber when you saw your first Burger King in Rotorua well they have Wendy's in Auckland so you had better get organised and com eup and taste some of that before you die.

Let me know if you want the radio, all I ask is that you dont take care of it like it was yours, take care of it like it is mine. Just ask Craig what would happen to him if he broke one of my radios!!

I think I have five or six radios now LOL one for every three models, yes I need help if you know anyone that can cure my thirst for collectiong RC gear.

Your problem is that you can always find an excuse for new kit thanks to the "company" needing it.

The best thing I did for my toys was starting a business... with a wife that nods and says says things like "well... if you think we need it"..

Safety is a good excuse. Yes i need a new fromeco arizona as the 4.8 nimh is unsafe and the arizona is a lot safer....well better get that then!

I did chop open my dewalt 18V drill and put a 3300mAh 5S LiPo in it, it sticks out of the end of the case a little bit but it is half a kilo lighter and has 900mAh more capacity. Tim the tool man Taylor would be proud.
